I first stumbled upon Norma’s Fruits and Delights while searching for a place that sells fruit cups, saved it to my Google Maps and forgot about it. Fast forward to a lazy Sunday, laptop in front of me, and I realized they also serve food plates. Craving something comforting, my boyfriend and I decided to give it a shot. The moment we arrived, we were greeted by an older woman who gave off that warm, home-style diner vibe. My boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak with fries, and I went for the six mini tacos al pastor.
Let’s talk food: The tacos were surprisingly great. They came topped with pineapple, packed a punch of flavor, and were super filling. As for the chicken fried steak, my boyfriend gave it two thumbs up, calling it “very old-school” and he meant that in the best way possible.
Now, it’s true what some of the reviews say: the place could definitely use a little decluttering and cleanup. But honestly, if you’re there for tasty, no-frills food and a casual atmosphere, it’s worth checking out. We’ll definitely be back, next time for the fruit cups I...
Read moreWent in for 2 fruitcups with Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Strawberries, Grapes and Pineapple, salt and lime, and as we were walking out of the store, my girlfriend took a bite of the Cantaloupe and immediately spit it out. I asked what was wrong, and she said it tasted sour and old. We though, maybe it could've been just that piece, so we waited to get into our truck before we tried eating more. Unfortunately she was right. I also bit into the Cantaloupe and it was mushy, old and sour. Typically, that would be enough to just throw the whole thing away and ask for a refund, but we were forgiving enough to just pick out the Cantaloupe and eat the rest. However, as we began eating the rest, we noticed that the Watermelon was flavorless and also tasted outdated. So we had to pick that out as well. The rest of the fruit was fine, but when the Watermelon and Cantaloupe takes up 85% of the fruitcup, you're basically paying 13 dollars, give or take, for a few pieces of pineapple, a few strawberries and grapes. Will not be doing...
Read moreStart with the positive: fish & shrimp tacos were delicious, avocado was fresh. The fruit cup was good but the chili sprinkled on top was too vinegary & gave the fresh fruit a bitter taste. It was also overdone with the Chile, but the fruit was fresh & good. The bad: corn in the cup was not good. Clearly used yellow canned corn & old grated cheese. The lemon pepper was a bit too much & the flavor clashed with the Chile powder. Not a Mexican style corn in the cup. The store felt dirty & messy. The counter to pay was full of junk. The beverage fridge was dirty & disorganized. The lady in front was nice, they did provide friendly customer service. This place has potential to improve. But at least the...
