I’ve been coming to ODI’s since shortly after they opened, and I want to start by saying I genuinely appreciate what they’ve brought to Corpus Christi. They’ve offered a semi-authentic Italian experience that, at times, really reminded me of Italy — especially with their choice of music, fresh ingredients, and the warm hospitality. The team is very accommodating, and David in particular is a fantastic server — attentive, professional, and kind.
One of my favorite memories here was my birthday last year, when the restaurant was actually closed. They still invited me in and treated me like a friend — pouring wine generously and creating a moment I’ll never forget. That kind of gesture is rare and meaningful.
But lately, things have changed. The creamy pesto pasta now costs $23, and if you want chicken, it’s $3 more. That dish, while decent, strays far from traditional Italian pesto — which is vibrant, herbaceous, and made without cream. It feels like a shortcut, and not in a good way. They’ve also added Alfredo sauce to the menu — a dish that, while popular in the U.S., isn’t actually Italian. It’s hard to watch a place that once felt rooted in tradition start drifting toward convenience.
Even the delicious chicken orzo soup — which I do enjoy — is more American than Italian. If they were aiming for authenticity, something like zuppa toscana would be more appropriate.
What really disappointed me, though, was seeing a public response from the owner to a customer who said the food was overpriced. Instead of taking the feedback graciously, the response basically told them to go elsewhere for “cheaper product and cheaper prices.” That’s not the respectful, thoughtful tone I would expect from a place that once made me feel like family.
It makes me genuinely sad to see what’s going on. I’m deeply grateful for the beautiful experiences I’ve had here over the years, but it’s likely that I won’t be returning. I hope ODI’s can reconnect with the spirit of true Italian hospitality and tradition — because at its best, it really did come close.
I’m thankful for the memories and the hospitality I’ve experienced here. Maybe after some time, I’ll stop by again to see if things have shifted back toward that authentic charm ODI’s once captured.

Read moreAte here tonight and inclined to leave a review after getting my bill with added on extra fee for chicken for my chicken fettuccine Alfredo which was listed on the menu for 20.99 and they charged me an extra 3 bucks for chicken. I pointed that out to waiter and he told me oh sorry we need to update the menu with the new price!! You can’t have menus with false prices for customers to order from! What kind of establishment does that?!? For that price it was a very small potion. Annoyed I took it as a loss and won’t be back. My kids cheese pizza was overpriced 18.50 small and took forever to come out. We had nearly finished our chicken Alfredo entree by the time it came out. Our Caesar salad was very good but also too pricey at 13.99 although it was big. Not to mention that we had never been here before and I walked in waiting to be addressed by someone for a table and no one acknowledged me for at at least 5 min before I finally went to the bar and asked and they said it’s self seating! Lol I won’t be back. Overpriced, false menu advertising cost and took way too long for a simple cheese pizza. Go...
Read moreOrdered a very unusual pizza called the Lombardo? It had a sauce of green peas , fresh mozzarella, onions, thin sliced potatoes, and panchetta ( we actually had SPEC. They were out of panchetta. I prefer thin crust , the crust is very crispy, especially around the outside. Some parts were bubbled out and air inside , a little burned , but not so much that it tasted bad. I am not sure I would order pea sauce as a base again, but it was a different experience. I did love the thin sliced potatoes, and the Spec was very good. I started with potato soup, and it was cream based. It had bacon in it . I loved it. There were not many customers, so I was a little surprised I had no water several times. The atmosphere is very relaxing , not really a family pizza joint , I would say a nice place for the adults to go and enjoy a meal. Next time, I will try a sandwich. Split a pizza or take home half , it is more than enough , even without soup or dessert. It is a little pricy , so I did not feel like I could order a dessert and justify lunch cost. The food is worth it , and it would be a...
