South Flo Pizza In H-E-B — Restaurant in Corpus Christi

2/3/22: This place is actually legit. I wasn’t expecting much but I am happily surprised. I am doing some H‑E‑B shopping rn and got hungry, I thought this place was more of a pizza stand and maybe sold pizza by the slice. It doesn’t, but I bought a full pizza anyways and my brother and I are taking a pizza break instead. We really like it! I actually think it’s better than Sal’s Bronx pizza 😬 The guys behind the counter were really nice and the girl was super sweet and helpful. We will definitely come again.

Edit 2/4/22: I came back today and bought 2 large all-meat pizzas for the rest of my family to try. I needed their opinion and I had to ensure my initial thoughts about this place wasn’t based on chance. So, I ate another slice again, today— and my thoughts about South Flo hold firm. And my mom and brothers agree with me too, this is probably the best pizza place in Corpus. (My dad is partial to deep dish, and didn’t share the same “best pizza place in town” opinion) But if you’ve ever been to NY and enjoyed a traditional slice from any of the boroughs, you’ll see what I mean. south flo pizza tastes like a very authentic NY style pizza— Which means, light sauce and it’s floppy so one must fold it to enjoy. South Flo slices aren’t as wide or large as a traditional NY slice, but that might be the only discrepancy- which I really don’t mind tbh. Truly an underrated pizza stand …

But I must emphasize, South Flo serves very authentic NY style pizza, and just keep in mind that the authentic NY style isn’t for everyone. With that being said, there is no other pizza place in corpus or the surrounding area who serves pizza remotely similar to South Flo or to that of the traditional New York style.

A traditional NY style pizza iiiis thin, with light sauce, floppy, and yeah- it can be kinda greasy. So maybe NY style pizza just isn’t your style 🤷🏻‍♀️ and that’s ok. But South Flo really is as authentic as you can get, and there isn’t another pizza place in Corpus like it (I looked) Authentic NY Pizza on staples used to be the best NY pizza place in town imo, but once Allen (former owner) retired, idk it just hasn’t been the same 😭 and idk what it is? Other pizza places in town, they don’t come close imo.

Other notes: the staff is very nice and helpful, and very quick. If you want your pizza piping hot and fresh, I would suggest getting down and placing your order inside and do not wonder too far from the counter. That’s what I did 💁🏻‍♀️ and I just let the nice pizza guy know where I was sitting (3 feet from the counter and around the corner at a table) and he called my name and brought it out to me right away. I barely had to wait long. Also, I have only tried their all-meat toppings and can’t speak for anything else on their menu (I can’t imagine it being anything but good though). I would like to start off by saying that I absolutely love South Flo Pizza. It has been my family's exclusive pizza spot since we moved to the area.

Today, however, was an exceptional experience! All we needed today was a quick, easy, hot dinner that the whole family would enjoy. So we directly approached the counter at South Flo Pizza where we were greeted very warmly by a partner named Tiffany with an amazing smile and even better customer service. She inquired as to how many pizzas we would like and what kind. We have our usual favorites such as the Spicy Hawaiian, Margherita Pizza, and the always classic Pepperoni. But today we wanted to try something different so we asked for suggestions. Tiffany was more than happy to provide them! We decided to go with a pizza named after the wonderful person helping us, the "Tiffany". A pizza with an Alfredo sauce base, fresh hand torn mozzarella, pepperoni, black olives, mushrooms, and sausage all finished off with fresh torn basil!

Since we didn't have any other shopping to do today, we were able to watch our pizza getting made right in front of our eyes. The partner that created our pizza was named Paul a true professional. Upon receiving the order ticket Paul jumped into action building up our pizza with the speed and efficiency only afforded to the best pizza craftsmen. From stretching the dough by hand to placing the toppings with extreme precision, Paul made sure the toppings covered the crust equally all the way around. He even took the time to place the pizza in an open oven so that we could watch our pizza crust rise, cheese melt, and toppings cook and get wonderfully crispy. When the timer went off and our pizza was deliciously cooked Paul was ready to pull it from the oven. Seeming like one quick movement Paul placed the pizza in the box and cut it with surgical precision into eight equal slices. He then placed it on top of an oven to keep it warm while we went to pay.

Upon returning to pick up our pizza we were greeted once again by the amazing smile and warm welcome of partner Tiffany. She promptly checked our receipt and went to retrieve our pizza. Before handing it to us she did check to see if we wanted any Parmesan or Red Pepper flakes to go with our pizza.

We took our pizza home anxious to try this wonderful masterpiece of food! My family was not disappointed to say the least!! All the flavors were perfect together, from all of the toppings, the crispy crust, and all the perfectly melted cheese! I think we found our new favorite pizza!

Needless to say South Flo will continue to be our go to spot anytime we are craving masterfully crafted pizza! I would give it more stars if I could! 10/10 would highly...

Our family absolutely loves South Flo Pizza in H-E-B! It’s truly our go-to spot when we want delicious, hot, fresh pizza that everyone—from the littlest kids to the pickiest adults—can agree on. The quality is always fantastic: crispy crust, perfectly melted cheese, and super flavorful toppings that taste way above your typical quick-service pizza.

But what really makes it special for us is Albert. He is always amazing and so friendly! He greets us with a big smile every time, remembers our usual order, and goes above and beyond to make sure we’re happy. He’s that rare kind of person who makes you feel like family—even on a busy day. Honestly, it wouldn’t be the same without him.

South Flo is such a gem inside H-E-B—it’s so convenient to grab incredible pizza while shopping, but we even go out of our way just to eat there. It’s become a family tradition. Thank you for consistently delivering not just great pizza but truly wonderful service.
