Yoshi Japanese Cuisine — Restaurant in Corpus Christi

This our go to sushi restaurant in Corpus.

I’m a huge critic when it comes to tempura, but theirs is perfect and even when we order for takeout, by the time we get home it still has a crunch. I usually get the Chirashi and it’s the perfect amount and for the price I think it’s justified.

I will say though… they seem to get my husband’s order wrong almost always. It’s very rare they get it right and when they do, we have no problem, but when they don’t… it gets kind of annoying especially when the waiter(s) repeat the order to us.

He usually orders two rolls which are the Crazy Texan (spicy tuna, avocado, pickled burdock root, cucumber topped with tuna, with tuna, jalapeños, fried onions, and hot oil) and the Spicy Tuna Rainbow (spicy tuna topped with various fish). For some reason when our food gets to our table, the Crazy Texan is correct, but he always gets the Rainbow Roll instead of the Spicy Tuna Rainbow… or one time he was given just a Spicy Tuna Roll. Then we have to go through a whole debacle or calling our waiter over and having them fix this mistake. Not sure if it’s a miscommunication between the waiters and the sushi chefs, but I think maybe having a paper trail would help with this problem since we noticed they almost never write down our order and just try to memorize it.

Although the minor mishaps, we still return because it’s one of the better places for sushi in this town full of chain...

The sushi here is literally amazing enough to sell your soul for. And you would be very comfortable with the transaction, I promise you that.

The Korean food will set your mouth and heart on fire, you'll discover a love for a cuisine you never knew existed.

The Chinese will make you question every time you've ever visited any other restaurant claiming to be authentic.

And the Japanese food will make you book a trip to Tokyo after two bites of anything. That's a guarantee.

But let's not forget the heart of any restaurant - the waitstaff. They will not only take any time necessary to find you exactly what you want and need (foodwise) but will always steer you In the right direction with their perfect and personal recommendations.

To say this place is anything less than perfect would be a criminal...

The food here is always great and we’ve always recommended it to all of our friends but tonight we had an unpleasant experience. First off both my wife and I tried to call and the phone kept immediately going to a full voicemail. We drove over anyways to place an order in person and to tell them about their phone and waited in the parking lot, received our order and drove back 15 minutes home. We opened the bag to see there was no rice with the Korean spicy pork we ordered, this dish is fairly incomplete without rice. We rang them up to let them know we didn’t get our rice and we would appreciate a tiny bit of compensation for our 30 minute round trip back there to get our rice. They said that we had two options either come back and get the rice or not go back and get 10% off the spicy pork next time, what if I wanted to order something else next time? We expressed that we would be driving 30 minutes and could we get the 10% off and the rice if we go back that minute to get it and were told no because the rice is free, this made no sense because the cost of the rice is surely factored into the cost of what was paid for the spicy pork?
