I recently visited bb.q Chicken in Costa Mesa and had a great experience. The staff was incredibly friendly, which made for a welcoming atmosphere. The portions were just right, and the food arrived impressively fast. I found the fries especially unique – they had a powdered cheese coating with a slight sweetness, adding an interesting twist.

The star of the meal was, of course, the chicken. It was juicy and flavorful, with a marinade that didn’t overwhelm the crispiness of the batter underneath. Since this is Korean cuisine, there’s a subtle hint of sweetness in most dishes. While sweet flavors aren’t usually my preference, I knew to expect it with Korean flavors, and it worked well here. Best place in the neighborhood for picking up some fried chicken on the way home. There are no fewer than ten other chicken shops within two blocks, but this bb.q is my first choice every time. The staff and owner here obviously take pride in their work, as it is the best bb.q franchise I've been to in California. The chicken is consistently tender, the breading is consistently crispy, and the seasoning is consistently on the money.
