Visiting from northern California and decided to go to Newport Beach. We stopped in to the Beach Pit BBQ. Wow, were we all impressed! We had a party of 8, arrived right at lunch time and anticipated a long wait for service. It was anything but what we expected. Despite the pressure of having so many people come through, he didn't miss a beat or seem stressed in the least. The food was delicious, moist, flavorful and fresh! We shared around the table a little bit of everything from the meats, salads, slaw and potato salad - all were amazing and their "secret recipe" BBQ sauce was the icing on top. The restaurant was clean, great atmosphere, decor and music. The outside patio is an excellent place to soak up some sunshine, and they had outdoors heaters for cold days. We look forward to adding your business to our shared travels itineraries. Thanks for being open on New Year's Day too! ☺️ Best wishes to the success of your business! Thank you!

This truely is a neighborhood hole in the wall BBQ joint with on site parking for 6 cars. Most people we saw there were doing pick ups. Our food was served on cutting boards. Very different but cool. We tried four different meats. Beef, pork, turkey and the ribs. All were cooked just right. Tasted them first without any BBQ sauce. Food is served without BBQ sauce. All the meats were flavorful and cooked just right and were tender. The tableside BBQ sauces are mild and spicy. I prefer mild. We also had three different sides. Potato salad, Mac n Cheese and green beans. The green beans were tough to chew. We didn't eat more then two. The mac n cheese was pretty good. Very creamy. And the potato salad was just potato salad. Nothing special or memorable about it. Its really hard to find well prepared sides at BBQ joints. We also had the two cornbreads, jalapeño and blueberry. Both were good. Just good.

First Visit—easy to miss this hidden place—almost drove by as it’s set back off the street. Cute Patio. Helpful, friendly service. Appreciated Christian so much and his upbeat, positive, attentive care. Counter Order—they bring to your table. I ordered the Two Meat Plate (Pork, Brisket) with Two sides (Cole Slaw, Collards). The Collards were very tasty and not string vinegary! Cole Slaw has a nice vinegar based dressing and the Ranch dressing is yummy. Meats were decent—added the bbq sauce and that was good. They gave me some lettuce mix with tomatoes (as requested) in place of their corn bread since I’m on Keto right now. Sat on the patio—was a bit cool and Christian offered to bring a heater (without any prompting)! There were quite a few Take Out Orders being picked up while I was there—3:45-5:45 I’d recommend at least one visit!

I like this place. Staff is friendly and considerate and even though it is an order at the counter type of restaurant they still make a point of coming out to check on you to make sure that your food is all that you hoped it would be. I appreciate that. The food is good. The ribs are some of the best I've ever had. The focus in this restaurant is really the meat the barbecue sauces are not the big deal it's the meat. And the meat is very good. I also think the potato salad and baked beans are great the blueberry cornbread was good. I've also had the Stacked house I think it's called which is brisket and pulled-pork sandwich I enjoyed that very much. My husband loves the tacos. They are just a pile of good white meat chicken on a couple of tortillas but for him that's exactly what he loves. So if you want a good reliable BBQ experience this is the place. The only thing I would say is that they are sauces could use a little Improvement. They're not quite as full-flavored as I would like. But as I said the meat is the star this place that in...

I love Beach Pit BBQ! Just about all their BBQ items are absolutely delectable. (All) Their ribs are awesome & their dinner plates are great, but I always tend to go for the Pulled Pork Sandwich. It's fantastic & their sides are really good too; the cornbread is a must. Their beans are a favorite of mine & the coleslaw is just right.

Sump'n to think about... Depending on what you order, modify in your order or add onto your order, Beach Pit can be a bit pricey. I think the best way to explain it is comparing it to a restaurant. You're paying restaurant prices but you're not getting served. You order at the counter & they bring your food to your table... Beer, wine & sodas, no liquor. Point being - it's similar in price to restaurants but there aren't waiters/waitresses/bartenders.

But! I didn't mention that to detour you! By any means... Because, to me, it's totally worth it! The BBQ is worth the price (in my opinion).

In short, the price is something to think about but the BBQ is so good,...

Been going to Beach Pit fairly regularly for many years since we moved from Texas to the OC 12 years ago.... so that says a lot. But tonight was the second time in the last year where I was quite frankly UNIMPRESSED by the experience. Our food tonight was served lukewarm at best, the beef brisket was bone dry, and the pulled pork not much juicier. My two 7-year olds love to come here but they agreed with me whole-heartedly. Something had also changed in the collard greens but that could just be the temperature issue. Anyways, not sure what’s happening in the BPBBQ kitchen??? To be fair, the food is still ok, and the atmosphere is certainly much nicer than it was a few years ago, especially the new patio (so kudos on the decor ... credit where credit is due) but I’d trade that in a heartbeat to have the top-notch food back. This used to be one of our family “go to” places. Unfortunately ... not so much anymore. Hope the food can eventually go back to what...
