LOTUS BISTRO — Restaurant in Costa Mesa

If you are craving Pho, Lotus Bistro is THE place to go! They recently moved into this Costa Mesa spot from their old location in Newport Beach. I always order a large #20 (chicken pho) and it is consistently delicious! The broth is perfection and even our vegetarian family members love their veggie soup. We've had shrimp rolls, chicken wings, calamari, and Vietnamese dumplings as apps before and you really can't go wrong with any of them. I visited lotus bistro based on glowing Google reviews, but unfortunately, my experience didn't match the hype. While our server was friendly and attentive, the food quality and cleanliness fell short.

The food, sadly, was a letdown (2/10). Dishes lacked flavor and presentation. However, the bigger concern was the restaurant's cleanliness. The dining area and kitchen appeared dirty, and witnessing staff sneezing and coughing while handling food was alarming.

New location! This one has the same vibes as the previous location but with a taller ceiling so it’s much brighter inside.

I got their chicken salad (goi ga) and the wonton soup.

The chicken salad was super fresh with crunchy cabbage, carrots, and mint. The addition of fried shallots and peanuts added a fun texture too. The fish sauce mixed with their fried chili oil was a killer flavor combo.

The wonton soup definitely hit the spot on such a cold day like today. The wontons themselves had flavor and the broth really warmed up the body.
