Edit: Deleted included photos as they were using pictures of my kittens that they KILLED in their website. Horrible people.
Do NOT come here.
I trusted these people, and I don’t want anyone to make the same mistake I did.
I took in the kittens my boyfriend and I had been raising since birth. They were supposed to receive their vaccinations and get spayed/neutered.
They never made it out of here.
They were only ~6 weeks old when we took them in, so we expected it may be a few weeks until we could pick them up again. I was crying dropping them off, telling them the kittens names, and how I was worried about not being able to see them. They assured me that this is the best possible thing I could do for them, and they told us we could call whenever we wanted to check on them. So we did.
We called a few times a week, and every time it was good news. They were happy, gaining weight, and super playful!
Friday, July 8th, we called to check on them. The woman who answered the phone pulled up their information. She told us they had all reached two pounds, with the exception of one. They wanted to keep all of them together for the time being, so their litter mate could continue socializing while gaining the weight. Once he gained the weight, they would get their procedures, and they would call us to come pick them up. We were so excited!
We called back again on the 11th, just three days later. The woman on the phone passively said “those kittens are deceased”.
She then began explaining that they had apparently never gained weight, they had been very sick from the beginning, they were on multiple medications, and seen by many vets that could not help them. They had all “passed away” the morning before.
Every single time we called, we gave them their id numbers to pull up their chart. Every single time it was good news. It was NEW news. It wasn’t as if the charts weren’t being updated. We were always given specific ways they were making progress. We were NEVER told of any medications, vet visits, sickness, or trouble gaining weight. We were actually told the OPPOSITE by people reading straight from their charts.
Two days after we were told they were doing very well, they suddenly die?
Kittens do not die on the same day at the same time, whether they are healthy or not. It seems that they were either extremely neglected, or they euthanized healthy kittens who all had eager families ready to bring them home.
Keep in mind that we didn’t even receive a call. We only learned of their passing while calling to ask when we could pick them up.
This experience has been absolutely heartbreaking. I feel terrible for ever bringing those sweet babies here.
Don’t make the same mistake I did.
The pictures included are the day we found them (1week), around 3 weeks old, and the night before we dropped them...
Read moreA friend had recently obtained a small black poodle from a hoarder and was looking for a home for the dog. My in-laws said they would like to have it so we took the poodle for a couple days until we could give it to my in-laws.
The 3rd night we had the poodle, it ran out the door and ran away. St. Peters police picked it up and brought it to this animal control facility.
I stopped by the animal control facility to try to pick the dog up and they wanted me to verify the dog I did and they asked for my I.D. to complete the "Verification process" ... without thinking twice, I gave them my I.D.
While the woman at the counter had my I.D., i asked how much it would be to get the dog back. She ran through the list of charges (one of which included neutering .. ill get to that in a second). The total came to $140.00. I said "um, no thank you.. I'm not going to pay $140 to buy this dog back from you. It's not even really my dog.. I was just a temporary home while the dog was transitioning to it's final home.... im just trying to help here"
As soon as I reached for my I.D. to leave the woman at the desk snatched it back and refused to give it back to me. The other women there immediately got on their walkey-talkeys and called for "back-up". They called an officer to the desk to keep me from getting my I.D. back until they recorded all of my information so they could charge me for losing a dog that wasn't even mine.
I was furious but had no other option than sit there and let them record my information.
So now I am waiting to get a bill from the city of st. peters for a dog that wasn't even mine.
Back to the neutering thing ... part of the $140 included neutering. What bothers me is if that dog really was MINE how are they going to force me and charge me to neuter my own dog?
It was an extremely unpleasant experience and all I was trying to do was find a home for this dog.
There is no doubt in my mind that this is a scam. They take dogs, charge people to get the dogs back, and add other charges that puts money in their pocket.
Maybe others don't agree with me, but i think its wrong how:
it's just so wrong on so many levels
I ask that anyone who gives these people money seriously re-consider it. they are not there to help animals, they are there to make money ... it is one of the most disgusting scams i have witnessed in a long time, and...
Read moreAlright, so all my life I've wanted a cat to love! I finally am 22 y/o with my own apartment and after a few months of living here with my S.O. I was finally ready to adopt a cat. I knew I wanted to adopt but I didn't know where to start. I tried to adopt from two other places but the foster parents continually withheld the cat telling me they forgot to "take the listing down" it felt like a dead end- till my co-worker told me about St. Charles Pet Adoption Center. This is basically the best place to go ever. WOW! When I walked in I was greeted by friendly faces who told me to look at the pets and see if I wanted them. Me and my S.O. looked at a few pets and met with them in the interactive play room. When we were done we got to adopt the cat we wanted THE SAME DAY. It's been two days now and I have got to say I LOVE MY KITTY!!!!! His name is Jasper, he is 3 years old, and he is the best cat ever. He has abandonment issues and anxiety, but overall Jasper is the bees knees. The minute I took him out the cage he explored the whole apartment and even USED THE LITTERBOX WITHIN 5 MINUTES! The people here were so kind to send me home with medication for Jasper and gave me a tag and GREAT resources. They are the best ever! They made me feel very welcome and apart of the adoption process. :) I am happy I adopted from the pet adoption center... definitely worth getting a cat here if you're looking for one. Me and my cat are forever bonded, and Jasper has found his forever home with me. :)
