We tried Costa's because of their recent and still available (as of this writing) Groupon, figuring we could try it for breakfast because that's what diners do best anyway. The place is run down and pretty ugly but we figured that sometimes a hole in the wall is great. Sadly, this isn't the case. The gaudy lotto screens and promotional materials barely overwhelm the many decades old decor and carpet. It just looks dingy and not in that cool way that some diners can pull off.
The service - far from the comments here - was not very friendly. The host staff were fine but our tall, blonde waitress was terse with our kids and my disabled father - she seemed downright impatient with my mother's special requests. We waited longer than I would have expected for our food, which was all hot and absolutely mediocre. The pancakes were about what you get at IHOP, the scrambled eggs were serviceable and the fruit for the waffles was all frozen (the waitress even said 'we have no fresh fruit' - eww). My Eggs Benedict was pretty lousy - tasteless hollandaise sauce, tough ham and uncooked english muffins. Who told these people this should be on their special?
Worst of all, when I moved my overcooked hash browns aside, a huge hair was under them. I sent the plate back (having eaten about half of my Eggs Benedict) with a busboy, who took is wordlessly. When the waitress (who had vanished) brought a replacement, she gave me a quick 'sorry about that' and then didn't offer to make amends in some way. Most restaurants would insist on removing the offending item from the bill or would have sent a manager over to apologize. I just got a replacement, which I really didn't want to eat.
Everyone in our party agreed the food was edible and the prices are quite reasonable. But we won't be back based on that unclean experience and the overall depressing state of the place. Perhaps the locals overlook the dismal feel of the place and accept the mediocre food. That must be how they stay in business. But I can't recommend going there to the...

If you’re looking for incredible food, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-tier service, Costa’s Restaurant in Covina is the place to be! From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. The cozy, inviting atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to enjoy a great meal with family and friends.
Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely fantastic! We indulged in their Pastrami Fries, which were loaded with tender, flavorful pastrami, gooey melted cheese, and crispy, golden fries. Each bite was a perfect balance of savory and satisfying. The Tuna Melt was fresh and delicious, with the perfect amount of crunch from the toasted bread and a rich, creamy tuna filling. And the Meatball Sub? Incredible! The meatballs were perfectly seasoned, smothered in marinara sauce, and served on a soft, toasted roll that soaked up all the delicious flavors.
A huge shoutout to our server, Aida, who went above and beyond to make our experience even better. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Her warm personality and excellent service truly stood out!
Costa’s is more than just a restaurant—it’s a place where great food meets great people in a setting that feels like home. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or a sit-down meal, this spot should be at the top of your list. We can’t wait...
Read moreSo I came to visit my parents from out of town, and we first went to El Torito, and it was packed. Even for a Friday night, it was insane. We waited 45 minutes and they hadn't been calling anyone. We asked how much longer and they "thought" about 20 more minutes. We just left. Everyone was grouchy. My parents decided to just get In N Out on our way home, and we passed by Costa's and decided to try it.
We were extremely happy. It wasn't crowded, though it was already 7pm by the time we got there. It had a beautiful Christmas ambiance, and a lot of A Christmas Story paraphernalia, which my parents just loved. The menu was insane. We were surprised by the variety, and my mom was happy that breakfast was served all day. We both got the strawberry Supreme, a Belgian waffle with whipped cream and strawberries. I got with ice cream on mine (didn't even end up eating the ice cream because it was so good without it). My dad got a mushroom burger. We were very impressed. The onion rings were top notch.
Everyone was friendly and kind. It was just a really great place. The service was fast, the food good. We were very pleased. I think it's our new favorite place. I have been on a quest for the best biscuits and gravy ever since B&Js Family Restaurant closed down, and I regret not trying theirs, but I have a...
