Venus Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Charter Oak

Ordered takeout for our first time from here tonight. As I waited and watched food coming out into the dining room from the kitchen... the plates of food looked amazing! Unfortunately my family's experience, once we arrived home and opened up our packages of food, was less than satisfactory. My fried sole was cooked just right but no flavor, sauce or rice... we had 2 orders of orange chicken, 1 spicy & 1 mild, they both tasted exactly alike, bland, slightly dry, large portions and again, no rice or broccoli (like in the picture) We had an order of their house rice which was ok. The fried dumplings were good. Crab and cheese stuffed wontons and spring rolls were over cooked and greasy. Prices were reasonable. The dining room appeared clean but my shoes stuck to the carpet in a few places... staff was friendly. If I were to eat there I would rather listen to music while I eat than watching the TV... my family and I will most likely never return... this night wasted $65+ of our money and we had hoped to eat it for 2 nights... and we will give our opinions to...

My husband and I ordered from Venus tonight for the first time. My husband ordered the scrambled egg with shrimp over rice and the salt and pepper fish. I ordered lemon chicken (had lemon chicken as a 12 year old and have loved since, but very rare to find the same quality) and the house chow mein with fun noodles! Most places we order from we feel chumped off especially when it comes to shrimp, however, tonight was different there was so much shrimp in my husband's dish, the salt and pepper fish was a lot too. My lemon chicken by far exceeded my expectations. The house chow mein was full of beef, chicken, shrimp and all the normal chow mein fixings. My husband was so very excited to see the amount of shrimp and fish in his dish as well. The quality of the food was INCREDIBLE! The quantity of the food was enough to feed this family of 7! We cannot wait to be out of isolation to be able to go to Venus and sit in! We HIGHLY recommend this place if you are looking for an excellent Chinese restaurant that will make it worth...

It’s not the first time I order from this local restaurant as I like to suppport local businesses in my community. Today I ordered as my parents were visiting and they were craving Chinese food. I used Door Dash as a delivery service and when the order arrived which took over an hour to prepare and the dasher had to reach out to me that she had been waiting over 20 minutes for the order. When the order arrived the soup was the wrong one, ordered 1 order of orange chicken and one of orange beef but received two of the chicken and no beef. Ordered egg rolls and didn’t come.

A business in today’s world needs to value their customers especially when my order was over $130 dollars. It’s ridiculous that someone can’t make sure the order is correct before it leaves...
