I had golden corral buffet a long time ago and found it to be amazing. I thought I'd try it again now that I saw it near but I am so sad to say I am incredibly disappointed.
TLDR, it's a 20$ buffet, you get what you paid for. 2 ⭐️
It's a buffet style so you pick what you want. I tried a bunch of their meats to get my money worth but it's all incredibly salty.
Bourbon street chicken: it's tiny chicken pieces, wasn't too bad, not super sweet or salty. It was edible, the texture was a bit dry. 3/5
Sirloin steak: medium, it wasn't super chewy with the piece i got but it can be a hit or miss with some pieces being medium well. it is EXTREMELY salty. I ate half of a piece and was having heart burns. 1/5
Golden shrimp: it's okay. if i had to describe, it's like frozen shrimp reheated. it's not good, it's so dry and lacks flavor. 1/5
Carve ham station: it was incredibly salty. the consistency was actually decent, soft and melts in your mouth which is perfect! the salt flavor just overpowered EVERYTHING so we didn't like it. 1/5
Teriyaki pineapple chicken: my favorite item. it was sweet and salty. it was the right amount of sweet albeit heavily coated in sauce (can be a negative for some people). The chicken wasn't super dry, cooked just right so it was delicious! 4/5
Desserts: there are a few selections, cakes are ok but dry, the slushie machine is okay, the ice cream is very vanilla and creamy so it was good! the cotton candy was their best thing. 3/5
Service & Atmosphere: Service: it's alright. they helped us when we needed table clean up and straws. you pay before you enter the buffet area at the front so it's quite dandy and convenient.
Atmosphere: the area is cleaned regularly and there's a balloon craft individual to keep children entertained. There's claw machines as well. The area can get loud considering there always seems to be a crowd at this location. The place is huge, there's more seating in the back past the buffet area.
Overall, we tried plenty more meats and food items but majority were all a miss in our book. Unfortunately we can't review all the food we try otherwise this list would go on forever but we hope we painted the picture that this place is clearly not in our recommendations.
We left feeling very dissatisfied even with the price we paid. I genuinely believe it's better to charge a bit higher price then deliver good quality food with seasoning that's been...
Read moreGolden Corral is a buffet. It's in the name afterall. That should come with an understanding that day-to-day, and hour-by-hour, quality can change depending on who is doing what. Yes, there is a standard, but things happen that can change that. Be it cucumbers sitting out too long and getting gross because nobody took them, or nice and fluffy or flat pizza.
As with all buffets, there's a nice variety of choices. There are three types of pizza, and the toppings cycle around as they're eaten and new ones are made. Sometimes there's pepperoni, sometimes sausage, other times a nice garlic and cheese. Standard salad bar options and an alright selection of fruits like watermelon, peaches, and orange slices. My favorite thing were these roasted potatoes. It had some amazingly delicious seasoning, but it was a bit greasy.
The wait staff are all super lovely and nobody seemed pissed off. Pretty sure the vast majority are bilingual knowing English & Spanish.
Update: The place itself is alright. Not too hot or cold. They've also moved the cashier across from where it originally was located. I do not know why. It's a little janky of a setup.
Other than that, it's brand new, so it's clean and not torn up. There's a large party room for birthdays and the employees will sing. There's a selection of claw machines for people to play near the door. The queue when entering is non-existent. So if it's busy and hot outside, well, hope you enjoy sweating.
Overall, it's...
Read moreExcited 😁!! 🎈 yes about time an American buffet returns to Covina /Azusa long awaited and a. decent one so I like the rest of the world I decided to go opening night. Can't say it was a bad choice everything was fully stocked and presentable looked awesome a few things first I'm Ada on a mobility scooter nobody seemed to really offer me help at all until after id been seated for around 45 minutes Enrique i believe did finally come over and help me decide to sit the back dinning room anyway I need restored Faith in golden corral after the one in Pomona has seriously just gotten significantly worse as post pandemic has rolled out. 😔 anyway the food was good. The desert was awesome. They had cheese cake my only real compliment was the size of the steak 🥩 coming off the grill that frank guy no joke his name was frank had about 5 or 6 big Mexican guys in line including myself and he's giving us small bites fresh steak is the main event I mean this is Covina I saw kids with bigger pieces than me. see pictures below just saying anyway I tried to find a manger not for any real reason just generally I like to introduce myself as a local Google reviewer but they always seemed busy I'll mention. There is infact a lot of bodies just standing around. Not doing anything definitely going back as id prefer this one over Pomona my next visit will likely be...
