Unprofessional. Rude. Disrespectful. Insincere. Dishonest. Unappreciative. It's unfortunate that I was even put in a position where I had to write a negative review on this place bc most of the staff is very courteous and pleasant, there restaurant is very clean and the food as well as the coffee is usually good. However (thanks to the owner) I was told today that I could not simply return my small coffee for a new one. I was surpringly informed by the girl at the register that she was told by the owner that they were not allowed to do anymore returns for me. I was a bit dumbfounded seeing as for the past month I have been going there with my wife and daughter, almost on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times a day. And during that time I have politely requested that they remake a drink 2 or 3 times bc the extra hot latte wasn't extra hot and today the small coffee tasted and looked like they just poured a little cream in without stirring or adding the sugar I requested and that was after eating the poorly made bagel that wasn't even toasted as requested with globs of cold butter thrown on it. There usual excuse for barely hot lattes is there machines can only steam them so hot, however my wife's latte that wasn't ordered extra hot was hotter then mine. No big deal to me and didn't think it was a big deal to them either. Guess I was wrong. So not only did they flat out refuse to remake my small coffee but they proceeded to make false accusations saying I returned 3 items in one week which just isn't true. When discussing this with the cashier/manager who seemed to be trying her best to explain this to me in a painfully apologetic and embarrassed manner, a more bold female employee behind her took it up herself to interject and flat out tell me there reasoning, which wasn't accurate or honest and in a rude and disrespectful manner to boot also adding in "Have a nice day" sarcastically after I informed her of a simple rule that most people in the restaurant business or any successfull and professional business are aware of (that the customer is always right) and that I would be writing a review. That being said there have been times at Starbucks and other non chain cafes that they were more then happy to remake something that was wrong or off and with a smile and an apology, once even a gift card for the inconvenience. It's unfortunate that the owner of Kay's Daily Grind doesn't have the same professional attitude or appreciation for her customers. Of course I'm sure that she would and will have her own version/opinion of this occurrence, making herself to be a victim and me to be unreasonable as seems to be the trend in her responses to other customers one...
Read moreI loved Kays Daily Grind but had a strange experience a couple of days ago. I called to place my order for a Mediterranean and a Sicilian and was told it would be over an hour wait. So I said ohh ok cancel it. Usually it's 20 minutes. But since I was headed up there I thought I will still run in to grab our scones and a coffee because they are both great. I pulled in expecting it to be busy. Nope 2 cars in the drive thru and 2 young men leaving as I went in. So I ordered my coffee picked my scones and thought for the heck of it ordered the 2 sandwich the older women let out a huff. Which is also surprising because every employee has always been great. But for some reason I had my sandwich in less then 10 minutes. Not sure why the original order I called in 10 minutes earlier was going to be over an hour. This was not even close to closing time either. Oh well I will continue to go because it's usually...
Read moreAs a longtime resident of the area, I thought a Starbuck's was going in when they were building this place, but turned out it's even better. I've been enjoying Kay's food (just down the street) since I was a teenager, and the same quality is found in this modern, efficient coffee shop. Had a soup and half-sandwich combo today - the chicken soup had nice big chunks of white meat, and the BLT was as good as any I've made at home with red ripe tomato and crispy bacon. Serves Electric City coffee (excellent) and Kay's desserts in a comfortable, clean environment with plenty of friendly staff. And wifi, too! We'll be stopping by more often for lunch on our grocery runs. Looks like it's becoming a place for local art, music and events, which is needed...
