Captain D's — Restaurant in Covington

Let me start off by saying I will NEVER visit this location again. My husband and I went inside to order food to go last night (8-10-24) around 8pm. I ordered a fish and fries meal which comes with hush puppies. I told the cashier that I did not want the hush puppies with it (because my daughter is allergic to egg) and their allergen menu states that the hush puppies contain egg. I did not want the hush puppies in the box with her fish and fries obviously because of her allergy. The cashier was very friendly and he told me he would let the woman boxing up the food know that I didn't want the hush puppies. My husband and I sat near the front counter while waiting for our food to be ready. Once our food was about to be boxed, the cashier told the woman not to put the hush puppies in the fish meal. She loudly cackled and in a very sarcastic way said, "what? Does she think we're gonna give her extra fries instead?" First of all, if I wanted extra fries, I would've ordered extra fries. It wasn't about that at all. It was about my daughter's food allergy. That was extremely unprofessional of her. Whatever reason I had for not wanting hush puppies is actually none of her business. I was literally sitting right there as she said it but obviously professionalism isn't her thing. It took everything in me not to snap back at her. I guess not wanting hush puppies is a crime to her LOL. I honestly almost walked out of there without the food, even though I had already paid for it. I definitely don't recommend...

When I stopped in to buy dinner for the family to go the person at the register took my order and gave me my receipt. She took three more orders after mine. Then went to the kitchen to help the young man get all of the orders made and to the counter window. The only real thing they could accomplish was arguing with one another instead of getting the food prepared. They lady running the drive thru window had to fuss at them multiple times just to get the food to the window. I waited fifty five minutes for my order to be completed and given to me. Then when they finally got it prepared the orders were not completed in order the way they had been placed. Also, the food was not prepared properly, the grilled white fish was over cooked and burned. The fried okra dripping with oil, the baked potatoes were dark inside and out, and tasted bad not even edible. This was absolutely the worst experience I've had at this location and it doesn't make me want to come back. This trip was definitely a waste of my...

Now this Captain D’s DIDN’T have enough workers today (9/10/2023). The young guy working the register at the front counter AND drive-thru was kind and doing an EXCELLENT job handling BOTH. Then the manager came to run the front register; she was telling him the things he was/had done wrong. She should have thanked him for the GOOD he was doing. I think he should get a bonus for today’s work.

The taste of the food was okay; the Mac & Cheese was soupy. With not enough workers it took 25 minutes for me to get our To-Go food.

The young lady that took my order at the front register was not the average young worker. She was upbeat, had a great attitude, kind, polite, and I could tell she was smiling (even behind the mandatory mask). The food was good, and hot. I ordered 2 dinners, we had the Southern style whitefish, broccoli, and Mac & cheese; however, the portion size of the sides were small. Went back again to Captain D's today.
