This is the first time in my life I am changing a five-star review to a two-star review.
This place was pretty good when they first opened, but since they've added the sushi bar apparently it's gone down hill.
I ate here on February 4th 2024 and my daughter and I decided to share the sushi boat. It was lunch on a Sunday. When our food arrived, pretty late mind you, the sushi rolls were not prepared correctly, the rice was extremely overcooked, and the pieces of sashimi were massive. All of that aside, when I get into the shrimp tempura roll my shrimp was raw. Eating raw shrimp can be very dangerous and I was extremely worried about getting sick, thank God I did not. When we let the server know she never offered a refund but just wanted to replace the roll. I said that I would take an avocado roll, but when it arrived it was barely held together and at that point I had already lost my appetite.
What was good, not much to be honest. I even ordered a green tea and she brought me out a Bigelow tea bag and barely hot water. I was hoping for Japanese green tea. And I got English green tea... So strange.
The funnier thing about all of it is it's supposed to be a ramen restaurant and when I looked at their ramen options it was greatly reduced from the time I had been there before.
To top it all off, they didn't even have a sushi chef on staff at the time and the manager was the one preparing our sushi boat. This explains the strange cuts and the poor attention to detail. And if that wasn't enough, she didn't even have her hair pulled back when she was preparing my food.
My daughter and I decided, we will not be eating here again. I highly discourage you from making the decision for your dining experience in Covington. I hope that they begin to make some changes or they won't be there much longer.
Side note: It was the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday and the place was nearly empty. That...
Read moreVisited Ichiban Ramen three times, first two times, were sub par. First time I got the Black Ichiban Bowl, unfortunately whatever they do to make the broth, tasted charred even seemed to have an ashy texture in the broth. Second time I got the Tonkatsu Udon, and again the broth had a charred taste.
I wasn’t gonna go back; but friends wanted to try them out so I went. This time I tried one of their specials, Birria Ramen, w/onions, tomatoes, stewed beef, jalapeños, and egg, Cholula, lime and a hard tortilla. This was Very tasty. The broth was a nice meld of flavors and the beef was vary tender.
We also got the Fried Banana Caramel Cheesecake, 🤤 this was amazing.
Each time I’ve ordered the Takoyaki, and while every time it’s come out warm, it’s never piping hot like I expect Takoyaki to be.
I can’t say I’d eat here very often, but after the last (best) experience, I will eat there at...
Read moreY’all! This place is amazing! We had the gyoza appetizer and it was awesome! I had the rice bowl with fried rice, instead of steamed, beef (steak), and chicken. It’s the same thing as hibachi. The chicken was not tough, very flavorful. The steak was cooked to perfection! The veggies were not mushy and not too crunchy. The fried rice was also perfect! My husband had the chicken lo mein and said it was the best he’s ever had. There was enough food for me to get a Togo plate and have enough for maybe two meals! Same thing with his leftovers. The ramen was very tasty, too!
Their chef, Andrew, is a top notch chef that is very passionate about his work and it shows in the quality of food he serves. Don’t question if you should go or not, just do it! You will not be disappointed! I can not wait until they start serving sushi, in about 2 weeks! There’s no doubt in my mind that it will also...
