I placed an order for 3. My son and his girlfriend, who were coming for dinner, had an emergency at the vet he works at and called and said he probably wouldn't make it but that I could cancel the two orders I didn't need - he worked in the restaurant business and it had only been about 5 minutes since I placed order. I called and was immediately told I couldn't get a refund, then was told I could on Tuesday which was fine, I didn't call about a refund, I called to change my order shortly after it was placed. I told them I wanted 1 meal instead of 3. I went to pick up my order and one of the owners, Stephanie, had the bag with 3 to go boxes in it. I explained to her what happened - she said I only cancelled one order. I assured I had not, explaining my sons situation, and told her I only needed 1 of the orders. She said I told the girl I spoke to to only cancel 1 order, I said maybe she misunderstood me - not a big deal...people make mistakes all the time. The owner stood there and continued to argue with me, a PAYING CUSTOMER, about the miscommunication that unfortunately happened. Instead of just making it right and giving me the one order I wanted, she got rude, disrespectful and very unprofessional. So, I told her to forget it, I would get my refund on Tuesday. After all, I've always heard/been told the customer is always right. Not at Osake. She went to storm off with bag in hand, with receipt attached. I asked her if I could have the receipt for when I called on Tuesday for refund. Again, very rudely she said she would take care of it. How did I know that after she had been disrespectful and very unprofessional? So I asked if there was a manager I could speak to. She said she and her husband Chris were co owners. So I went to explain to him what happened, he immediately got an attitude having no idea what happened as he was seating a family while this was taking place. All he heard was her saying they were co owners. I explained to him what happened, he was no more professional than her, as he had already taken her side having NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED. This should have never happened, had they made my order right, that I requested. As I was speaking to Chris, the co owner, he asked me if I wanted to take it outside - are you kidding me? That's how an owner of a restaurant speaks to a paying customer? I am fairly new to Covington and love trying new places and liked Osake, they have good food. But after my experience there I will never give them another dime. I always recommend good restaurants to others. Sadly, all I will be able to tell people is about this unfortunate experience that happened, that didn't have to. All because of disrespect, rudeness, and owners being...
Read moreI feel 3.5 stars is more appropriate, but I have to round and usually you round up from a 5 number.
I ordered the Gyoza and, the name escapes me so I think, Road Hound or Round Road, sushi. Sushi has crab, shrimp, tuna, avocado inside, with salmon on top.
It’s a small restaurant, having about 15 tables, all 4 tops with 2 2-tops, and about 6 or 7 seats at the sushi bar.
Very clean, as I would hope as it’s relatively still brand new.
I take away a star and a half as the food that I received was not quite what I was expecting. The gyoza was about $5, and where it was good, I have doubts it was made fresh and may be more mass ordered. The shell was very light and crispy, which I’m not quite used to with a fried gyoza. The interior was a little heavy on the cabbage, but overall I did like it. There were about 6 pieces. The sauce that came with it was light in taste, and a tiny bit sweet. It paired well.
The sushi was fresh and light in taste, but I was disappointed in its size. It has a number of ingredients in it, but it was really small. I appreciate it not being made bigger as rice subbing in as a filler, but for $12, I would rather have gone to a buffet and got as much sushi of the same size, and the option to get as much as I wanted. Contrary to what the picture may show, it’s actually kind of small. Speaking of buffets - the size is similar to what you’d get off a buffet. Taste was good, like I said, and I now wish I ordered something else just for a little more taste as it was a little plain, but I’m not sure what else I could have done to it besides get some eel sauce to dip it in.
I didn’t order much, and there’s a few more rolls and meals I’d like to try, so I will be returning. I was surprised to see they have poke bowls. I wish they had a few more options for the additions to the poke bowl, like seaweed salad, and other toppings.
The menu seemed simple and refined, having just enough to have a decent selection, but not overwhelming like some menus can be.
And they have the worlds best crunchy ice! Love it when a restaurant makes that style of rice. Like at Zaxbys. Coke products, and my coke tasted super fresh. It helps it’s a brand new store and the lines haven’t had time to get gunky and the tank for the bubbles to go bad.

Read moreI came to Osake Thursday with a group of my friends for my friend's birthday. It was a very bad experience from the beginning. I have come to Osake multiple times and never had a bad experience until Thursday. I am not sure what her name was whether it was Tiffany or Traci, but she was so rude to us. She started off by making comments under her breath about our order and how we were going to be a difficult table. Who tells their customer that ordering "half sprite and half sweet tea" will be difficult. She was being rude and dismissive to us from the time that we came in. She told us that she was busy and gave us all the drinks at once and told us to figure out which was which, and hurriedly left to attend to her other tables. With immense observation, I saw how she treated the other tables and it was quite different from ours where she had a polite tone and whatnot. It made me quite upset. Furthermore, when I asked for a refill for my Sprite, she had an attitude on her face, plopped my drink on the table, and said "This is what you wanted right?" in a demeaning tone. Who tells their customer that? From there, I was visibly more upset and decided to ask for the manager. I told the manager about the experience my friends and I were having and how we did not want to pay gratuity whatsoever because of our unjust treatment. However, this just entailed gaslighting and claims that "we just did not want to tip and Oxford kids never tip." Our problem is not with tipping but rather how our server treated us compared to her other tables. We paid money to have a good experience not to have our drinks slammed at the table and teriyaki being thrown also on the table. And when I went on to tell the female manager what happen, she made it seem like it was all in my head, when my friends also witness what happen and loudly told me "Not to go there." And to top it off, the manager told us that there were initial concerns about this table. What is that supposed to mean? How do you think a black woman will register that? Not blatant racism? The managers nor the server who served us are professional and I do not recommend anyone who is not white to go there as you will be treated as...
