Mesa Cafe and Grill — Restaurant in Cranston

Todays experience was okay. We ordered a Philly Cheesesteak, rice and beans and chicken nuggets.

I want to give my thank you to the waitress, I ordered tomato juice. It wasn’t great to my taste, she took it back and gave me orange juice.

Back to the food. Philly Cheesesteak was too greasy and it lacked flavor, the home fries eh okay also lacked flavor. My 3-y.o son loves rice and beans and he didn’t finish them, that tells me he didn’t like the flavor.

As far as bringing the food out, it came out at a decent time.

Why the low stars, we’ve been to plenty restaurants that provide drawing for the kids, this is key to keeping the kids engaged. You can prob see from my profile we order often from small businesses, however, the kid experience wasn’t the best. Having paper and crayons for the kids to draw is a major benefit to your business. It’s a low investment and reduces the likelihood of kids bothering neighboring guests, keeps kids engaged and helps parents enjoy the meal. As far as menu, love the QR code, however, if you can add pictures to your menu it would make ordering much easier. Especially for kids to choose food, like my 3 y.o son. Hopefully this helps, but todays experience wasn’t great. Hope they can improve the experience...

We’ve been coming here for YEARS with our kids and often enjoy showing off this hidden gem to out-of-towners who need a great breakfast spot. While the atmosphere is a bit eclectic, the food is amazing. I’m not sure what magic they soak their home fries in but it really makes the difference in taste. My go to is the Mesa Omelette. The way they roll the eggs so thin makes me go nuts. There nothing worse than a an omelette suffocated in thick dry eggs with a side of flavorless home fries - you will NOT get that at Mesa.

As for service, there’s a true joint effort of the staff. All staff works together to seat new customers, wait on tables, clear plates, refill coffees etc.

There were three servers hanging at the bar area. It took a few minutes for us to be seated and also for our order to be taken. The girl server was loud and obnoxious. There were not many guests in the restaurant. I ordered an egg white omelet. The waiter did not ask if I wanted cheese on it, so I assumed it had a cheese listed on the menu. When our food came out they brought food to the wrong table, then to us. There were not many people there and it was not busy. My omelet was not cooked. There was no cheese on it. The egg whites were not cooked. They were still raw and gooey and slimy. I did not eat it and I sent it back. When the server came to get my plate he even made a face and was shocked by the look of the raw...
