The dine in experience is definitely better than the take out. The rolls are amazing either way, but today was the first time my husband and I ate at the restaurant. We are very picky about sushi, and Toyama has definitely stepped up their game. Prices are reasonable and portions are good!! We decided to try all new items, so we got chow mein, and the following rolls: turtle, sweetheart, & sexy beach. All VERY good!!! The turtle roll tasted so fresh with those lemon slices, the sweetheart roll was perfectly sweet, and the sexy beach roll was surprisingly delicious 💕 I didn't get pictures of the turtle or sweetheart before we broke into them lol but I did get one of the sexy beach. They tasted even better with the seaweed & cucumber salad, and the radishes!! We cannot wait until our next date night to try out more items on the menu.

Lovely people, waiter was friendly and attentive, but the food was not great. Got the chicken udon soup and the chicken was pale and rubbery. The soup itself was passable in the way instant noodles are. And the vegetables and add-ins were pretty bland. Another person got salmon which was firm and chewy. And an order of vegetable noodle soup had rather haphazardly chopped vegetables, with cabbages still clumped and wilted. Can't comment on the sushi, but I'd recommend avoiding the entrees.

Great local spot! Quite and small restaurant, with great atmosphere. My wife and I always order the Toyama Roll. It is so good that when we order one we take turns licking the plate. We love sushi. I also like the Sweet heart Roll. The sauce is like crack, I wanna run the streets in my underwear it’s so good! The service is always good. One server runs the place. Owner prepares sushi, and one guy prepping and frying. All a round good food!

This was my first time eating here, after all the raving reviews I wanted to try it. I’m a sushi lover and I have a couple absolute favorites, but I’m not not a picky eater. I’m more like a Hoover vacuum.

Anyway, the sushi was really good. I actually probably would have enjoyed it more if it had been what I ordered. I called in and asked them if they had what I wanted available. They had a similar roll for $13.95. I asked them to add jalapeño in it, add some sauce on top, and not put lemon slices on there. They said sure, it will be done in 30 minutes. Got there at 35 minutes. After I got there they acknowledged me, and said they were still working on it. Turns out that they were working on 5 others. I waited an additional 30 minutes. He finally comes over and charges my card, and it’s $20.91... That’s not including a drink or anything. The roll that’s supposed to be $13.95 is $7 more? For adding jalapeños? BS. $16-$17 is acceptable.

Continuing on, I just wanted my food at this point: and scrambled to get back to my hotel room so I can finally eat dinner at 8:30pm. Just to open the damn box and see that they never added the jalapeños that they charged me $7 for! I’m frustrated, defeated, furious. I would love to eat there again, but after the WORST customer service I’ve ever had. I probably won’t, it would take less time for me to drive up to brookings. They had better sushi anyway. I felt like calling to complain, but I highly doubt they would do anything. After that I would honestly just like my money back. Or at least the $7 they overcharged me after waiting a total of 1hr 10min 👌🏼

I’m fine if you mess up, but they messed up in all 3 areas of a restaurant business. And overcharging someone is stupid, but it’s flat robbery if you don’t even give me what I...

This is legitimately some of the worst/lowest quality sushi I've eaten, I had it delivered so maybe they just thought they didn't have to put that much effort since I wasn't there in person but one of my rolls was so overfilled and sauced that it was mushy so I didn't even finish it (like I seen another review on here say) and my California roll was packed with cheap imitation crab and avocado and was practically falling apart with a few of the pieces not even being rolled by the time I got them. The eel avocado roll probably had a ratio of like 90/10 avocado compared to eel (One of the pieces actually didn't even have any eel in it which was just funny at that point) and combined with how the California roll was just makes me think they put as much filler in these rolls as they can to save on money. I was so mad at spending over 60$ and having most of it be inedible I just had to get on here and say something to save at least one poor soul from eating here. The pickled ginger was decent I guess but man I regret getting...

HORRIBLE..!!! So 1st)..I ordered potstickers; but I wanted them steamed-the reply was "we don't steam anything, its all fried" (every restaurant I've gone to has always obliged by steaming potstickers when asked) 2nd)..I ordered the sweet an sour chicken-I received heavily fried chicken bits with a sauce that didn't even resemble sweet n sour..and a side plate of steamed rice-was actually cook in a rice cooker. 3rd).. My wife ordered the green mussel appetizer-they were out of that at 3:00 in the afternoon. Then she ordered the curry chicken stirfry-they were out of that... she decided on the shrimp tempura roll-which was deep fried-and not stated on the menu-that too..Was Horrible..as it was over cooked and bland. 4th)..We ordered the jalapeño poppers: this was truly abysmal: 2 large jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese and canned tuna then deep fried and cut in half set on a plate with no decor. So Basically A Horrible experience, Horrible food..!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE...
