Store was clean. And the white frosted jelly donut was pretty tasty. That’s about the only good things I can say about this pastry shop. I was referred here by another friend, servattis had made her wedding cake, and did a very nice job on it. My friend and I ordered a cheese crown, fried danish, Apple fritter, cherry danish, jelly donut, and a pretzel stick. The cheese crown was dry and flavorless, the Apple fritter seemed to have an off balance of cinnamon, where there was too much in it and it tasted very stale. The cherry danish was also dry and lacked flavor except for the cherries. The fried danish tasted of anise, which wasn’t horribly unpleasant but wasn’t looking for that licorice taste. The jelly donut was the only donut that tasted good. It was a little dry but altogether when eaten with the glaze the jelly snd donut, came together to be a nice balance of flavors and pleasant textures. The pretzel stick was also an exception, it tasted like a soft pretzel and it still tastes good cold. The other thing about the pastry shop, the only person that had a clue of what anything was, was the man behind the counter. Who may have been the manager or main baker. The other three ladies there had no idea what anything was or what it tasted like. Maybe they were all new employees, but they didn’t offer assistance or say hello, and it was kind of weird. It was $13 for 6 donuts/pastries and a pretzel stick. When I’m in Kentucky again, this is not a place...
Read moreWhen you walk in the smells take over and will trigger some memories. At least mine did of an old fashioned bakery where I grew up and I don't care who you are grown adults and kids alike, you will have your noses pressed against the glass of the pastry case like Ralphie and Schwartz from Christmas Story! I try go in whenever I can especially Tues. Tuesday is pretzel day. They melt in your mouth and pair it with there garlic cheese dip? You'll be hooked. But today I walked out with a coconut cheese coffee cake. My stomach was so happy with the choice and I was happy to have obliged! Though you can't have a great store if you don't have a great staff. The girls are so sweet and the young man was so helpful he carried out my bag, yes I said bag! I'm not going to tell you everything I got, you have to go in for yourself 😊. Ok fine Adorable Easter cookies and decorated eggs that's all I am going to say. Hope you enjoy your visit as...
Read moreI debated between 2 and 3 stars. My wife got me a German Chocolate cake for my birthday, as well as a "backup" tiramisu. The cake was moist and tender. The topping wasn't too sweet. But, and one might describe this as the linchpin of a German Chocolate cake: it wasn't chocolate. It was a light beige that someone described as blondie like. I went out to the internet to peruse its German Chocolate cake images, and while I didn't go all the way to the end, I could not find a light beige German Chocolate cake anywhere. The German consulate was closed when I received the cake and I don't speak German so a call to Germany's Bakery Ministry would have been likely fruitless (unlike a Black Forest cake) in an effort to confirm the qualities of a German Chocolate cake. So, I'm left only with my many years experience eating German Chocolate cakes to leave 2 stars. And we'll leave the tiramisu as...
