Was really looking forward to checking this place out. Upon arrival we were not even greeted at the hostess stand. I have a lot of patience and respect for restaurant workers, so I really gave them multiple opportunities. I am a super friendly person and my group was basically ignored. At one point I stepped back and asked my boyfriend to try and get someone to seat us, as every single hostess blatantly ignored our group. We were told there was a wait when a young girl finally approached us. We kindly said “no worries. We’ll wait.” We waited for over a 1/2 hour and watched multiple groups (same size and larger) continue to be sat before us. We had asked for a table outside and were finally led to a back corner spot outside. We were then told by the woman who brought us to a ur table that she was really overworked because one of the cooks failed to show for court and the police came to arrest him. Yes. She really shared that. We then waited forever for our server and began with one of the apparent winning bloody Mary’s and 2 cokes. The drinks all took about 20 minutes to get to our table and the deck area wasn’t even full. We ordered salads and burgers which then took another 30 -35 minutes. When the food arrived the sweet potato fries were so greasy and hard that they tough to eat, in addition to being cold. We never complained once, either, because we were so hungry. The cheeseburgers were also cold. The unfriendly atmosphere did not give us a feeling that our food would be replaced, let alone, cooked correctly. Our server was very nice but she proceeded to tell us while giving us the bill that she was getting over Covid. Let’s not even discuss the massive fly problem that allowed you to not enjoy your meal because you are too busy fanning the flies away. Many flies kept landing on our food… and when I say many? There were so many that it was borderline horror movie. Sadly, I was excited to check this place out. Not only will I never step foot in this place again, but I would tell people not to eat there due to health and safety issues. This place should be inspected by the health department, weekly. Additionally, it was the most unwelcoming environment I’ve ever encountered. Just an overall incredibly...
Read moreIt was my first time visiting Kuchie's on the water and despite the fact that we went on a Saturday night they weren't even that busy. I think we had to wait maybe about 20 minutes or so and it was kind of a spur of the moment decision to go. We've lived in the area for 23 years but have never actually been there. I think we tried to go before but the wait was long so we opted out due to a somewhere that we had to be later. I think the fireworks were going on a Marquette Heights this weekend so we got pretty lucky since they weren't busy. My waitress's name was Christina and she was really down to earth, I appreciated her honest and genuine personality. We had a few small conversations and it was honestly nice to talk to her. I was telling her that we came there because I wanted to have a good burger somewhere so then we were talking about the quality of food at other places. My husband mentioned that the Big Mac meal used to be $2.99 back in the day and then she made a little joke about his age, she was a lot of fun! Before we were seated I got to meet the owner and she was so nice to meet. As we waited for our table we stood there talking to her about all the different foods at the restaurant and what sells the most of in regards to meals and even the desserts. I thoroughly enjoyed my time waiting for my table just as much as I did the food. I ordered the Topless Beach Burger and of course we had to try the garlic bread cheese curds and they were quite delicious! The strawberry lemonade was on point too I asked for extra strawberries and they spoiled me on that! Oh I almost forgot we also tried the toffee butter cake because the owner told me that that was the best dessert on the menu and she wasn't wrong , it was mouth-watering! I absolutely loved being able to sit at the best table on the the deck (in the corner) and being able to watch the boats and jet skis out out on the water. The weather was absolutely perfect it was so beautiful out & I was so happy to have my first visit at Kuchie's since I've been trying to go for quite a while! Highly recommend going and maybe even calling ahead for seating if...
Read moreMy two daughters and I went early on Sunday night for supper. They were busy but told us to give them our cell phone number and to wait outside and they will call us when they had a table because we wanted to sit outside. We waited 25 minutes and still had not been called even though people kept going in and not coming back out. We went in and were told that we were forgotten but they were not at all Apologetic . We sat on the deck around people that had gotten there after us and received a waitress who was rushed and frazzled. She gave us our menus and then left. She did not come back to get our orders for half an hour but between that half hour she did come and say after we put our order in it would take an hour to get it but didn’t take our order when she was standing there. From the time we got to the restaurant then forgotten outside to when we got our food was two hours. She was not overly friendly and we had to ask for refills which she acted like it was a pain. All three of us ordered the chicken wrap and french fries with water. My oldest daughter then proceeded to throw up as soon as she got home and I got sick the next day and was sick for days after that. (my oldest daughter ate the whole wrap, I ate half the wrap and my youngest daughter only took a couple of bites out of it and never got sick. We weren’t sure if it was the chicken wrap that made us sick or if it was the super super greasy fries) It was our first experience eating there and we will never be back.
4/27/2024- decided to try it again after two years to see if things have changed. Went to lunch with my daughter and her boyfriend. The food tasted very good BUT AGAIN two of us got food poisoning as an evening went on and were sick all that night and the next day. We ate different meals the only common items were our waters, the french fries, the ranch dressing and the cheese curds. I’m not sure what is going on there but I’m not going to try it again and get sick again. Too bad because the food is...
