I first saw BonChon Chicken in Virginia Beach/Norfolk area but did not get a chance to go in but was hoping to go when we returned to VB. However, to my plesant surprise, I ran into BonChon Chicken at Gambrills and found out theres two more locations nearby. Went in for lunch on Saturday and the place was somewhat packed? It was late afternoon. The waiter gentleman was super polite and extremely curtious (wish more servers were these nice, you will get bigger tip ;). We ordered the Salmon Avocado and requested for the Salmon to be well done (well seared) and to put the sauce on the side. It was sooo much more than we expected. Out of this Planet! Both I and my wife loved every bite of it. We also got the Popcorn Chicken and to be frank their Popcorn Chicken does not come close to any of the so called Pop-corn chickens I ever had. Forget fast food popcorn chicken. This is where other popcorn chickens need to take lots of pointers from Bonchon's popcorn chicken puts shame to others. For entree we got the Spicy Chicken Bibimbap and this fish also was exeptional and became our fev on first bite. They have so manu other items that we wanted to try but 2 of us can only eat so much. We brought home half of each items because it was too much food for us. This is good that we eat very little as this gives us chance to keep coming for new items to try. This place just became one of our fevorite restaurant.I fistlrt saw BonChon Chicken in Virginia Beach/Norfolk area but did not get a chance to go in but was hoping to go when we returned to VB. Read moreI've lived in the DMV area for over ten years now and have been a bonchon regular for years, at locations all around the area (some good, some bad). We moved to MD a couple years ago and was pleasantly surprised with this bonchon location when we first moved. Everything was good up to maybe a few months ago. Lately, the chicken has been tasting a bit stale. The chicken tastes like it's been sitting out under a heat lamp. Everything is over salty. The fried rice lacks flavor, but has an abundance of soy sauce. The dduk bokki is finally spicy enough, but lacks any other flavors. The seasoned fries have changed as well. It's no longer crispy, and isn't seasoned the same as it used to be. The takoyaki is almost inedible. After the first bad experience we had a few months ago, we agreed that we still have to give this location another chance, but about 4-5 chances later, my husband and I have finally decided to give up on this location. I'm Korean and have grown up with home cooked food all my life, and was happy to find a place I can go to if I didn't feel like cooking, but now we're lost. Looks like we're driving up north or to VA for my Korean...
Read moreThe food has been terrible! Tasteless fried chicken wings and legs, some kind of gooey coating on the fried chicken, cole slaw tasted days old, and even the Korean Tacos were not good. I used to be a fan of Bonchon when they first opened here in Crofton, MD. I believe since the pandemic in 2020, things went downhill at this eatery. Time and time again I have gone back hoping the food would improve. I am at my last straw with patronizing this eatery. I've had awesome Korean fried chicken before, but that was in Denver, CO!!! If anyone knows of a place in MD or Washington DC area, please post the place. Otherwise I will have to learn how to make it on my own. I've been meaning to do a review since last year, but with the latest purchase on November 22, 2023, it reminded me I need to share my voice on how the quality has diminished. I always take my food to go, so I cannot comment on service or atmosphere. How dare they try to include a tip on the bill when we are picking up food to go??? So fed up by...
