Rating 4.3/5: Overall a solid Mexican themed restaurant. I say "themed" because it's not a a true authentic Mexican spot but it's not a tex-mex place either, it's a good balance that feels welcoming. Aesthetically pleasing with large amounts of natural light, a bar separate from the main dining area but still visible which struck curiosity. Music was present, not overwhelming but not too low, mostly hits from my millennial era LOL, so the atmosphere was well received by my wife and I. As far as cost, it all depends: If you go on taco Tuesday, they have a special for 3 tacos and a house marg for $24 (may be temp) which isn't bad at all. They also do have happy hour, but their plates are priced as one would expect - I'd say plan to spend anywhere between $60-$80 for a date.
First time dining with Mucho Gusto and we enjoyed ourselves for the most part. We went during dinner, they were pretty busy but were seated right away. Our waitress was kind and got us started with drink orders and appetizers: chips & salsa, and birria queso - The drinks were really good, I ordered a watermelon margarita with tajin on the rim and my wife a white sangría; both great picks. As far as the appetizers, unfortunately, not sure if the runners or other waitress got a hold of our appetizers but we eneded up having to wait a bit longer for the queso we ordered, but the chips did come out right away. The queso was a little underwhelming, it was stringy and lacked the boldness of the other foods we had, it was OK, but probably won't order that again. For the main course I had ordered the Carne Asada & Pimientos (not pictured) and my wife had gotten a small plate of the Camarones Asados, we also ordered a side of plantains. The shrimp was a 10/10 and probably the best thing we ate that night. The Carne Asada (reg. entre) sadly was not the one I ordered, however pretty solid overall. Plantains were delicious, crispy outsides and soft warm inside. Our waitress was very apologetic regarding the mix ups and we appreciate that. We didn't do dessert mostly because we were STUFFED.
The manager, Wells, did come to check in and took the feedback we had well. He did his part in taking accountability and I can respect a leader who is striving to be better. In all honesty, this is a new place that is trying to get it's bearings and for a first time go-er, I have to say we had a good time. I'm not going to take away from the hospitality and ambiance - they acknowledged what was going on and took action and that's good to see.
Will I go back? Absolutely. I'd recommend this place to couples, groups of friends or coworkers. Not sure if I'd bring small kids though. Thank you to the Mucho Gusto staff...
Read moreI called and placed an order for takeout so I can pick it up on my way to work. I called at 7:45 p.m. And asked is it possible to have my order ready at 9:30 as that will be the time I will arrive, the employee who answered the phone and took my order told me yes that would be fine. So I proceed with my order, I arrive at 9: 24pm and walk in through the door. I stood at the front waiting area for 9 minutes without being greeted or acknowledged while two other employees walked past me without saying anything and were also cleaning up but also looked my way. At this point in time the establishment was not busy at all. I counted nine people total. Most of them were in groups of at least two. Finally, someone asked if I need help and I told them I am here to pick up a order that I called in at 7:45 p.m. And was told it would be ready at 9:30 p.m.. they went to the bag and told me they are still working on it. So I continue to wait patiently at the front door and another 10 minutes goes by with no update. So I go to the bar and ask the bartender about my order. She goes to the back and check and then comes back and tells me that my food has been sitting in the warmer. I told her I called it in at 7:45 p.m. to be ready at 9:30 p.m. And it took someone 9 minutes from the time I walked in the front door to even be acknowledged and was told my food was still being worked on. While the bartender tells me that the food is sitting in the warmer. After a few more minutes I eventually got my to-go order. That was pretty bad customer service as that was my first time ordering there and even stepping foot in that restaurant. As it was a place that I was looking forward to trying. Customer service needs to be worked on. Not sure if I would recommend this place due to the lack of customer service acknowledging customers upon entry. Along with a tale out order not being ready when initially called in almost 2...
Read moreI saw a review for Mucho Gusto and as my PICs and I love Mexican food, this was added to our list of places to try. As New Year's Eve was on a Tuesday, it seemed a perfect place to have our last dinner of 2024. We were glad we came. We arrived shortly before a severe thunderstorm and were told it was a 40 minute wait, but could sit at the bar. Fortunately, there were exactly 3 seats at the bar AND we had 10 minutes before HH ended. We all ordered margaritas and shortly after the drinks arrived the buzzer went off alerting that our table was ready. We paid our bill, grabbed our drinks and headed to our table.
The restaurant is located in a strip mall and is small inside. We did have to maneuver around tables to get to and from the bar, but they did the best they could to maximize the space. There is this little lounge type/VIP area by the bar which is cute and different, howver, not the best utilization of space, but like I said it's cute.
On to the food. I wish I had written this earlier as I'm drawing a blank on our server's name, who was great btw. He was attentive and honest about recommendations, yes we did ask what he had eaten and enjoyed the most. Anywho, we started with chips and salsa and spicy guacamole. This was the best guac we've had in a while, a perfect spice and enough lime juice to be a perfect blend. One of my PICs also ordered a bowl of the chicken tortilla soup. This little bowl was FULL chicken and she said it was delicious. I don't think I can say delicious enough about the food. For entrees we ordered chicken and shrimp fajitas, birria tacos and tequila grilled shrimp. No complaints anywhere. Everyone enjoyed their food and we will...
