TLDR - AWESOME TRACK!!
My daughter and I went on a go-karting road-trip last week, and this was our first stop. Leading up to the trip, I was excited about this location, but found the pricing a bit hard to swallow. However, once we arrived, we purchased 50 laps at their lowest rate per lap, and had an absolute blast!! We took a break mid-day, went out to eat and returned for more. We then saved six laps each and came back for the evening experience. Each visit that day was fantastic. We ended up cancelling our next stop and got another 50 laps the following day. My 10 year old daughter had so much fun it was worth every penny!
Some notes: When we arrived it had just finished raining. They promptly dispatched a half-dozen employees with squeegees and backpack blowers and re-opened in no time. It was just slightly damp on a few turns which amplified the fun! There are TONS of restaurants within a few miles, so although they don't offer any substantial concessions, it's a not an issue. The staff was great - we didn't need to ask anything of them, but I'm sure they would have quickly addressed any concerns if we'd had any. I didn't see any of them (all teenagers, save one) on their phones or off-task. This isn't really a negative per se, but there was a summer camp there for part of our second day which found lots of kids on the track, many of which were timid. Although one can pass on this track, it doesn't have a real competitive feel to it, and being hyper-aggressive around a bunch of first-timers didn't seem appropriate. So, we went out for ice cream, came back and the group was on their way out. This segues into a possible issue for some - the track is awesome and you can pretty much run it flat-out the whole time, but by its nature of stopping every lap, it's not a great destination for a competitive outing. You still get the adrenaline of riding someone's bumper, and setting up for passes, etc, but if you're looking to flat-out race other drivers, this isn't the place for that.
All in all, 5/5 for my daughter and I. We will definitely find our way back...
Read moreWe had a great time yesterday! Staff is very friendly and helpful and they're AMAZING with young kids! My son just turned 10 and hes high functioning autistic, has adhd, and has a nuerological disorder called apraxia which effects speech (severe) and body coordination (mild) . I was a little nervous at first because my son is over the height limit for a double kart, and hes never driven by himself before but hes been wanting too. They so kindly offer to take first time drivers off to the side to teach them how to drive until they staff and kid are both comfortable with their driving abilities. I absolutely LOVE this because we WANTED him to drive himself, the only reason we wanted a double kart the first lap or 2 was so I could show him the track the first lap. And then teach him from the passenger seat. So I was very happy about that cause most places dont take the time to do that! They were very kind to him as well! The young teens were so sweet and the adult woman was SUPER sweet and encouraging! Loved her! My son had THE BEST time of his life. He even said it was his favorite thing he did on his birthday week. We did 5 laps as a family of 3 and my 10 year old did a last lap all by himself! He didn't want to leave and has talked about it non stop asking to go back! He actually did really good and has now found a new hobby! Its an hour from our home in southern md but totally worth the drive. I also think the prices are very affordable and reasonable in this day and age, which i also love because it makes it accessible to normal everyday people. They also have a shaded picnic area so we packed a lunch, and sat down to eat and my kid was entertained because he got to watch the other people drive on the track. We will be back soon and its probably going to be a regular once or twice a month activity while the track...
Read moreI took my 9 year old daughter to this Go-Karts Track today and was very disappointed by the experience. It was her first time EVER experiencing Go Karting. I purchased both she and my sister 5 laps from the track. My sister is 18 and quite experienced. Again, my daughter is not. This was her first time ever. She went around twice and the first time she had a few bumps. The second lap she had less bumps but still a couple bumps. The young men made her get out the kart and told her she could not ride anymore. She also was not riding recklessly. She was scared to do so.. This disappointed me more than it angered me as a mom because I was hurt for my daughter. She was looking forward to go Karting for the first time. She is a very well behaved child and didn't put up a fuss. She just got out of the kart and walked away. She walked to me with eyes watering with tears in her eyes unsure of what to do. She explained to me what happened because at this point I was just looking on and didn't know. I said okay and went to get my refund. I just wish the young men in attendance would have taken the time to give her a mini tutorial...show her how to have less bumps...and give her a how to, dos, and don't talk. She's a very respectful child and would have been receptive. They also then would have realized she had never done anything like that before. They were also not busy at all while we were there. My daughter cried, I was upset about her hurt feelings. I explained to her the importance of the rules but also recognized it was her very first time and it is ok to make mistakes when getting used to something new. We will try GoKarting again...
