We enjoyed this spot, even before it was AJ's Diner. My husband and I chose to have lunch here recently. It was busy as usual but we were promptly seated. We each had the special which was fried chicken. The dark chicken was a complete leg quarter; not pieces. The white chicken was a boneless chicken breast. We prefer bone-in chicken when having fried chicken. It was good but seemed small. We noticed the salads are small as well served in a small sauce bowl_ Also we orderd fried cabbage; it was a small portion alike. We were a little disappointed because we were accustomed to the large sides from the former visits under another name. We may think about trying another diner next time to see if the portions are more generous. Food was decent; just not enough. Service was very nice...

I drove past this place twice thinking it was a used car lot.
It has the classic old time look. The decor is old yet clean. Furniture shows its wear. What AJs lacks in decor it more than makes up on food, service, prices and personality.
A couple of people needed to wait. Casual comment " busy as usual" This is a place where the locals go for breakfast. So many knew each other. And the waitresses knew everyone. Service was fast, friendly, and responsive.
The food was excellent. Not fast food sugary stuff. I had the pancake breakfast - 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 French toast. $7
My wife had the Philly Cheese steak omelet ( ? ). It was excellent. Large with lots of meat and cheese. $10

I tried to blot the grease from the ham but it turned out to be overly salty - there was no way to get the grease off either the potatoes or the eggs so I left hungry.
