As much as I was hoping this would be a gem and a new spot to go for brunch...I sadly was let down. We visited today around 1:15pm for brunch looking forward to some eggs Benedict. Unfortunately our favorite places removed them from the menu or were closed today so we were forced to look for a new spot. First impression of the place was great! Cool ambience and good decorations and music. Friendly staff greeted at the door with a smile so that definitely won some points with me. Great service is always a plus. However, once it came to ordering and the food it went downhill. Unfortunately this is one of the new style of breakfast/brunch places that you have to order at a counter (instead of a waiter or waitress taking your order). Honestly that is one of the main trends I hate with restaurants...I like a server to take an order. I was hoping the food was going to be great because the reviews and photos looked outstanding! But the photos don't match the flavor đ„ Ordered salmon benedict...comes with grilled onions, capers, hollandaise, poached egg, a slice of tomato, and "smoked salmon". The salmon was the only thing you could taste on the benedict. Overpowering fish flavor and barely a hint of smokiness. Anyone who knows anything about smoked salmon knows that low and slow keeps the fishy flavor out. And any salmon that tastes fishy like that is either cheap, or improperly smoked (too fast, too hot). It was also not the right texture and slightly tough. Hollandaise wasn't rich or made correctly. Again no other flavors popped out other than extreme fishey-ness. If that was the only complaint I'd come back but their drinks are serve yourself, they don't have fresh juice (orange or apple) which is a big no no. Fresh squeezed juice is a must for breakfast/brunch places. Especially hip trendy spots like this. No real foodie wants juice from concentrate or to serve their own drinks. But they do offer a bread box with slices of white bread for free (no toaster or anything). I'm really not sure why they even offer that. To be honest they should take some pointers from great options like First Watch, Sunny Street Cafe, Lili's Bistro, HG Supply Co, or Egg and I because all of them do this style much better. Prices aren't bad but food needs a ton of improvement. Honestly I felt like they went cheap on the ingredients and tried to charge normal brunch prices. Not impressed. Even the slice of tomato wasn't ripe and...
Read moreThis breakfast/lunch diner has been in Crowley where my mother lives for a while so my husband and I thought we would try it. He ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs with poached eggs and âbeef baconâ and I order a smoked salmon Benedict, no sides as the breakfast potatoes (which did not come with the meals) were an additional $4.00+. My impression initially was that the prices were quite high. Later when I learned customers are responsible for placing our order, getting our drinks, silverware and other items I knew my initial supposition to be accurate.
I failed to receive my coffee which was due to a mix up where the cashier thought I said âice coffeeâ instead of â12oz coffeeâ which is considered a specialty and they have to make. That wouldnât have been an issue if we hadnât already been charged extra for the iced coffee, hadnât received any coffee and had already received our breakfast. My husbandâs poached eggs somehow came out as scrambled and his chicken fried steak had the thinnest layer of âchicken fryâ Iâve ever seen. While my Benedict looks pretty and the eggs were cooked perfectly, the hollandaise sauce had very little flavor and the English muffin didn't even seem toasted. For a $35 breakfast (about $14 per plate plus drinks) I expect it to be what I ordered and delicious.
We were there around 8:00am Saturday morning and there were about three other tables beside our own so it...
Read moreI am really on the fence with Bread & Butter. Our first trip to this restaurant and we were confused. Although there is a small sign at the entrance that apparently says to order at the counter, we missed it. When we walked in the young lady said " sit anywhere". And we did just that. We grabbed a menu and sat at a table for almost 10 minutes before we had to ask how to place an order. It wasn't until then we were told to place our order at the counter. Now, with that being said. The menu had plenty of options. I feel the pricing was a little high for "Old Town Crowley" but nevertheless they were not horrible. As we were waiting for our food I witnessed several issues in our "pandemic Covid world". The waitress allowed ppl to sit literally less than 2 feet from me. (behind me) and then the table directly in front of us was allowed to also have people with in 3 ft of my daughters. I also watch the waitress take the paper menus off the tables and reuse them. She wipped the tables off but not the seats. Then she also took the salt and pepper from a table where people just left and handed them to another customer. I was very uncomfortable with all of this. On the flip side, the food was very good. I hope this was just a bad day and that they take extra precautions in the future to keep our Crowley...
