Worst restaurant in Cullman!! I have enjoyed eating at Denny's since I was a kid, but this location needs to be shut down!!!
After a very bad experience earlier this year, where my husband and I took our family to eat at this Denny's, they got our orders wrong, some of the food tasted nasty, and the service was rude... months later, we decided to give the establishment a 2nd chance.. bad idea!!
My husband and I went to breakfast around 9AM, the restaurant was not busy, maybe 2 or 3 other tables when we arrived. There was only one waitress working. The place was dirty.. globs of dust and dirt and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, spider webs in the windows, the casing around the window was separating from the wall so there were large cracks in the wall, and there was just a putrid, dirty smell around our table. A second waitress came in, the same one we had at our first visit months earlier. She never smiled and only came by our table once to take our order. Some time later the manager lady brought our food to the table, not asking if we have everything we need or anything, just delivered the plates and left. My husband starting eating his ham and promptly spit it out, saying it tasted bad. It was covered in grease. The eggs were swimming in butter and oil, literally pools of it on the eggs. We called our waitress over who explained that was normal grease from the grill. My husband did not want to eat the food so she took his plate away. My omelet had streaks of black gristle from the grill, and they forgot to add the avocado that I was paying extra for. So after having my food for about 10 minutes, the waitress finally brought 3 small slices of avocado on a plate, shoved it onto the table next to a stack of napkins that flopped over on top of the plate of avocado, and she walks off. So I paid $1.29 extra for not even a half of an avocado that was rudely shoved on the table and was contaminated before I could even it. After watching my husband unable to eat his food, and not wanting to order anything else at that point, I choked down less than half my omelette, as it was also swimming in grease and oil. The coffee was extremely bitter and I wouldn't trust drinking the water here. Our waitress came by once to refill our cups but other than that she kept walking past our table, chatting with the other customers, but avoiding us because we were unhappy with the food and the service. No apology from her or the manager either.
Finally we just wanted to get out of there, so I went to the front with the check and waited in the dirty lobby several minutes before the waitress came to the register. She did not ask how our meal was or say have a nice day or come back or anything, instead of handing me my change she set it on the counter and did not provide a receipt. I asked her for a receipt, she rolls her eyes, huffs, slaps the receipt on the counter in front of me and doesn't say anything. SO RUDE!!! Worst waste of $25 ever, and I ended up throwing the rest of my food out after spending the rest of the day in the bathroom... I will never go back to...
Read moreTraveling last night we stopped in to eat. The hostess, an older woman, was off in the back and took quite a bit of time to come greet us. Only part of the dining area was opened to seating guests and the hostess made us wait till she cleared the table to seat us despite plenty of other open, clean tables. It was also obvious the tables were not being cleared when guests left, rather left until needed. Despite a waiter and a waitress on the floor, the wait to be seated exceeded 5 minutes. Once seated within minutes two other tables arrived, had to wait as well while the hostess ran around the building and ignored guests.
The waitress came to the table swiftly, asked for our drink orders and pushed for us to place our orders then. We needed to look over the menu and placed our order when she returned with our drinks.
1 hour later…
despite attempting to have the waitress come over to our table several times, no one checked on us. We watched as the second table that was seated after us was served their food, ( at least 6 at the table). My partners sugar was dropping quickly and he was getting very sick. I decided that we would allow 5 more minutes then leave. Sure enough, as of the cook staff heard me, the first table that was seated after us was served their meal.
When we got up to leave the hostess was too preoccupied with her phone to speak to us and continued scrolling on social media. We got to our car and watched as she approached the waitress , I presume to ask about our table.
During this entire fiasco, I did notice it appeared the waiter and waitress were not allowed to clear tables and the hostess was ambling around between a back room in the other side of the building, in the empty dining room and a back room off the dining area we were in when she wasn’t preoccupied with her phone. I’ll also presume this was the “ manager” and she would leave the nasty tables till someone came in and wanted to dine. This could have easily been kept up with had the waiter and waitress been allowed to clean up as they went!
In addition. We both felt the waitress intentionally avoided our table. We watched as she passed by and checked on the other tables, including the other waiters tables, and fails to check in despite being hailed several times.
There is also loads of mold in the building. The air vent directly above my head was shooting it out with the air flow, and the wall beside the booth displayed water damage. Over all I’d say I may be glad I never got the food I ordered.
Whoever owns this location needs to get in there and make it work! There are way too many restaurants in the direct area to put up with that! Rest assured, we won’t be back and I will find out who owns/ runs the location to...
Read moreFirst off I wanna say the only reason I’m giving 1 star on service and atmosphere is We started off with a waitress we had prior to the time before we came to Dennys & she has is so rude! It almost feels like a personal problem but, I have never seen this woman outside of Dennys in my life. We came in and ate a few weeks back & my chicken fingers were damn near burnt! All I asked was for it to be taken off the check because the only thing I ate was my salad . I wasn’t trying to complain or be a difficult customer I just couldn’t eat them because they tasted bad.. (which mind you, is not our usual experience here we usually have good food) still tipped the woman and went on our day even tho she was nasty rude the entire time. But, being a server myself I understand that sometimes we have bad days and don’t mean to take it out on other people.
Fast forward to today, we came to Dennys & got sat in her section and both of me and my boyfriend remembered her from last time because she was so rude. Well, today she still rude, and so I started being rude right back to her… I genuinely do not understand the woman’s problem, she wasn’t wearing a name tag, had on a pink shirt, blond ish hair we were sat just a few tables from the restroom! the waiter who brought our food to us was not the one we started with which tells me that this girl has an issue with me or one of us? & didn’t want to continue serving us. However The waiter we ended up with was actually very nice! He took care of us & treated us great. We sat at table 24 and I’m almost sure his name was Bradley? If i’m having to give him a a review it would be 5 stars! I’m just hoping nobody else gets the service we have gotten from this woman. I’ve worked as a server for 5+ years & this is not acceptable behavior. Dennys, maybe y’all should have better discussions with your employees about customer service and...
