A last minute decision to visit Pinto Thai one Friday evening already has my son begging to return. Pinto Thai provided a delightful family outing.
We were treated warmly by staff. Certainly by the gentleman who sat us and later took our drink order. I appreciated when he was ready to take our order, he looked to me and said “Ladies, first!” My husband was happy to say the Thai greeting to a lady-server who brought the drinks to our table. She immediately bursted into a warm smile.
With an extensive cocktail list, I had a Gimlet which did not disappoint. The liquor was well poured, just the way I like it! My husband quickly settled on Thailand’s original beer, Singha. My children enjoyed their sodas which came with neon-flexi straws.
The Thai food was authentic so obviously delicious. We dined on crab flavored and shrimp dumpling appetizers served with a soy-chili dip and shredded carrots. I got my children to eat the carrots, hinting they should dip them into the accompanied dip.
The Thai Pinto menu includes a variety of appetizers to include satay, rolls, calamari and mussels and dumplings. A nice variety of Thai soups, salads noodles and fried rice. The entrees include crab, duck, fish, shrimp, beef, chicken and pork. My nine year old jumped to the kid menu which was a mix of Thai food yet American kid friendly, included fries.
If you’re a fan of curry like me, you have got to try their red curry. I had their red coconut curry shrimp. I know it won’t be my last. As per usual, I never make it to dessert but I managed to sneak a peek at their mango sticky rice and coconut ice cream.
I enjoyed the interior visuals which included:
The Pinto Thai logo on the napkins and within the menu. The logo reminded me of a Thai version of the Mr.Men characters.
The banana leaf appetizer platters. My daughter’s entree included white rice wrapped in banana leaf.
The light fixture above our booth. Each booth protected with Covid design solutions of plexiglass.
The bar which left me focused on what looked like colorful stacked food containers instead of the liquor they offered.
I appreciated the Thai altar wall set up with pictures and offerings of wine, fresh fruit and flowers for Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Even happier to see the Thai flag beside the American flag too.
My son and I enjoyed the floating tv which had a segment on how to prepare fish.
Pinto Thai will definitely have me return to Culpeper. I look forward to once again greeting the staff with the cheery Thai greeting of sawadee krap/ka.
Also they offer DELIVERY for $20 if you're within 3 miles of the restaurant. Catering service is...
Read moreWe arrived on a busy Saturday around 6:00. We did not have a reservation, but they had a table available. They apparently have a thriving take out business as well as dine in. All the staff were very polite, and the service was above par. There is a cute robot that delivers the food to your table, and then a wait person serves you. Pretty neat idea! The tables are wood, and ours was very sticky. Our table was divided by clear glass, so another couple had half the table. It’s a little awkward as you can hear each other’s conversations as well as have a clear view of each other. The menu is extensive – and also very sticky. We were surprised that the pricing (food and adult beverages) was as high as it is – in Culpeper? There is a full bar, and a lackluster, although expensive, wine list. Think Robert Mondavi. On the bright side, the food was delicious. Very fresh and tasty. My spouse got the Massaman Curry with Shrimp. The shrimp were nice sized with large chunks of potato in a yummy sauce. He ordered the meal with a heat of 2 (which is standard), and it was not very spicy at all. He said he’d up the ante next time! I ordered the Stir-Fried Ginger with chicken. It was all white meat and had one small bone in it. It was so good! The white rice that came with the meals was cooked perfectly. We spent $50 with tax and tip and no adult beverages. We would return again if...
Read moreExcellent lunch specials! Great food, super nice employees, owner, management. No, l have to say it's AMAZING FOOD! I miss living in the area and being able to go frequently, but even if only passing through, always have to at least get something to go! I typically don't like sweet creamy salad dressings, but the small pre meal salads are so delicious and refreshing, and not overly sweet, just perfect small amount making it the most refreshing salad I've ever had! I've requested extra and packed up either that and/or the rest of my lunch or dinner for later. I never paid attn to addtl cost if any, but happy to pay for extra and have never been overcharged, so if there is a cost, it's definitely reasonable. Main dishes still great reheated too! Love that it's consistent - as some places the food varies depending on chefs/cooks/management, but this place is one I know I am going to get what I expect if I've had it before, every single time. Very accommodating as well - noted if items are spicy, you can request more or less and they are very kind to make adjustments, though they are never needed! Everything is perfect AS IS! Unless you have food allergy/spice issues, I recommend going by the book and allowing them to make your meal as intended! I've never been disappointed! Favorite Thai restaurant and one of my top fav restaurants....
