Sweet Roux — Restaurant in Culpeper

Update 2/19/22: We went back for probably the 6th time in the last few years and it truly pains me to say this, but it was actually terrible. Like completely disappointing from beginning to end. We ordered two long island teas and they were both literally 80% sour mix with very very little alcohol and barely enough ice to cool the room temperature drinks down. We got the potato soup for an appetizer and it was basically Velveeta and water from the taste of it. And because there was only one poor girl working the whole place, by the time it got to our table it had developed a skin on top.. My wife got the chicken nachos and honestly it may be the worst chicken nachos she's ever had. I got the mini bahn mi sliders and the slices of jalapeno were actually bigger than the burger. They're was no slaw on them, and the meat was overly salty. Their bahn mi burger used to be one of my favorite burgers, not just here, but in all of northern VA. These were completely inedible. The only positive I can say from our last visit was that the poor single waitress still did a great job despite being completely overwhelmed. Unless something major changes, we will not be returning.

I had the Cuban sliders and let me tell you what. The taste… just melt in your mouth… like dream about and wake up craving… just the most best meeting of flavors I have ever had the pleasure of introducing to my taste buds. I did not know these flavors could exist in the same capacity. Every bite was the same exact way. I spent almost ten minutes just enjoying every single bit of one. Seriously guys make that a main dish it was superb! Next I had the shrimp tacos. Hard to choose because so many good looking items on the menu. Not enough to over whelm you but you want to get them all at once they sound so delicious. The tacos were most certainly not a let down. They were almost as good as the sliders but those sliders were a 100 out of 10. The tacos were 10 of 10. The fries were delicious as well nice and crisp while being evenly balanced in size. Very fair price for every single bite I had!

Seated right away. Greeted right away. Server is super sweet and did a good job. She forgot to prebuss the salad plate but it worked out well because no side plate was delivered for the mussels and clam shells ( two of four clam shells empty)in pasta del Mar which tasted like tuna helper. Other dishes were salmon that was burnt wth overcooked rice, and an appetizer and side of sweet fries. App didn't come out until well after everything else, so it was canceled. Fries were luke warm but well cooked and tasty. Bar drink (Bourbon Street) was Very good ($12) but took a Very long time. ( petpeve ..bartender delivered drinks including beers holding glass by the rim). Side salad was nice. Dessert was blah. The staff was all nice. I would definitely go in for drinks at happy...
