Broken Spanish Comedor is everything you want in a restaurant. From start to finish, you can feel the passion behind it. Chef Ray has created a modern Mexican spot that absolutely delivers on every level. Even though it was only their second night open, the service was excellent. Everyone was kind, knowledgeable, and excited to share recommendations. Chef Ray personally brought several dishes to our table -- such a cool touch. ------- Drinks Spicy Margarita - The salt foam on top is unreal and perfectly balanced. Destilando Amor - Smooth and flavorful with just the right amount of mezcal. And for LA, the prices are really reasonable -- a delicious margarita for $13! ------- Food Highlights Guacamole & Chips - Thick, crisp chips that taste double-fried, with a bright, citrusy guac. Ceviche - So fresh and clean with the perfect hint of heat. Albondigas (Duck & Bacon Meatballs) - Incredible flavor and a sauce you'll wish you could take home. Gluten-free, too. Ensalada César - Black garlic dressing, shaved parmesan, and amazing house-made croutons -- the star of the meal. Chamorro (Beef Shank) - Deep, rich, melt-in-your-mouth flavor. ------- Five dishes for two was the perfect amount, though dessert would've been an easy "yes." Tip: Ask for the extra salsas -- they're delicious and spicy. If you're heat-sensitive, let your server know. Valet is $15, or try for a meter on Washington. Broken Spanish Comedor is a true gem for the Mar Vista / Culver City area. Great food, great service, and a chef who clearly loves what he's doing. Can't wait to go back.

Just what the neighborhood needed! This place is both charming and delicious — perfect for a casual dinner or a birthday celebration. The food is comforting, beautiful, and bursting with flavor, a reflection of Chef Ray Garcia’s culinary prowess and authenticity. Can’t wait to go back!

Loved the food and experience last night. The space is a nice change from the concepts that were there prior. Food and service was amazing--super family oriented place but elevated enough to be a great date night place too. We had a group of 6 including a toddler and a newborn and a puppy and they were so accommodating --it was really surprising to be honest as a lot of elevated restaurants are not like that in LA. Must haves are the duck Albondigas, camote-- a super tasty take preparation for a Japanese sweet potatoes. The chicharron is unlike any prep of pork belly I have ever had--perfectly crispy on the outside and super tender inside. A sleeper hit btw is the refried lentils. For cocktails super fun mix of tequila/mezcal options. Our group really enjoyed their tequila old fashioned riff. If you are into mezcals and tequilas don't forget to ask to see the full menu--there is easily over 100+ bottles. The only other places I've seen such a large list is Old Lightening at Scopa Italian Roots or Madre Oxacan. Looking forward to coming back again as a family or for a mezcal tasting...

I’m so happy this opened on our side of town! Great local spot for friends and family. I’m a big fan since way back and remember when the original Broken Spanish burst onto the scene and began reimagining the value in Mexican food. Chef Ray has given Angelenos delicious and worthy food that is on par with French and Japanese fine cuisine. He grew up in Los Angeles with Mexican heritage. He thinks in an elevated yet grounded manner that blends the roots of where he came from and where he wants to take his food to. I tasted the shrimp (A beautiful presentation and remember to order tortillas with it,) lentils, Chamorro, tamal, tostada, guacamole, flauta (excellent, order 2,) trout (delicious!) I recommend the patio if you crave more intimacy. I will try the seating at the bar and...
