BTC by Chef Kang — Restaurant in Culver City

Parking is easy in their lot. You order at the counter and wait for your food. There are only 7 tables so people waiting for to go orders are taking them up. Probably should have a dedicated table for people waiting for their order. I ordered 2 spicy tacos and the egg salad and the chili. I asked for no raw onions and they assured me that they are always served on the side. Everything is made when you order it so expect a 20 minute wait. My order was ready and I headed home to eat it. The packaging is very secure and well thought out. They did run out of the meat for one of my tacos so I picked one that was not spicy. I opened up the tacos in the kitchen and saw a fistful of raw onions on each taco. I scraped them off but lost the cilantro when I did that. I added some caramelized onions instead. The green sauce was very nice. The 6 hour braised meat needed 2 more hours of cooking. It was not tender enough for a taco. The other meat was very tender but had connective tissue that pulled big chunks of meat out with each bite. Flavors were outstanding. The egg salad was perfect. I loved the finely chopped carrot and celery which added a nice texture. The chili is really a Texas chili. It has chunks of very tender beef instead of ground beef. The flavor is really good. Remarkably, the chili also had lots of raw onions in it. How is that even possible? I thought chili cooks for a long time. They were actually crunchy. I’m really torn about this place. I’m sure that I will be back but I get really bad heartburn when I eat raw onions. I think I got almost all of them out. Burgers and burritos are very popular from what I could see. I really hope that the chef reads this review and makes a few tweaks to make this place remarkable....

Just tried Chef Kang BTC. The food was delicious! They're still in a soft opening, but the service and the food are top tier thus far. We had the Bugogi Taco, Honey Butter Chicken Wings, Chicken Skins and Waffle Fries. We also ordered an Animal Style Burger and additional chicken skins to go. The fact that I requested another order of chicken skins to go should tell you how good they are! The taco was flavorful, well seasoned and plenty of meat. The fusion of styles actually really works!! It's not a Mexican taco, so please don't go in there with that mindset. This is a fusion restaurant. The honey butter chicken wings are on the mild side for me. My wife really loved them. I was trying to go for the soy garlic (so, I'll go back for those. Waffle fries were crisp and well seasoned (they also offer a SPICY seasoning as well). The chicken skin is the best part of fried chicken and you won't go wrong. They are well seasoned, crispy and delicious! They offer their own dipping sauce that good as well. The customer service is great! Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable about their products. My family and I thought we would check out BTC by Chef Kang's soft opening because of the advertising- and I'm glad we did because the food was phenomenal. We agreed we’ve never had such a flavorful asada taco ever (the Classic Taco) and the portion size matches the price. The chicken wings were very crispy, fresh and delicious. Everything we tried was delicious Staff was very welcoming & great fast food atmosphere So we returned for three days in a row-trying different items. But on the third consecutive day the classic taco serving was off. We were disappointed because the meat portions in the classic tacos were less than our first two days of such deliciousness having the price match the portions. So the excitement fizzled for the tacos. We probably won't try them again if they serve less meat. But the family agreed we will return for so many other delicious items - the chicken wings, the potato balls, the burgers, the chili and so much more. You definitely should try this place if you’re in the area!
