Public school is cool place. The bf and I sat at the bar. The waiter the was super friendly...I wish I would have gotten his name to give him a proper shout out.
Please excuse the picture of my half drunken Irish coffee and half eaten buffalo cauliflower. By the time I realized I needed to take a picture.... well we had already enjoyed a few bites and sips. I like that the cauliflower where large pieces and they had good texture. But I will say they were a bit on the bready side. They had a nice buffalo taste and came with a side of blue cheese dressing and marinara sauce which personally I thought was weird. I've never had any buffalo flavor food with marinara sauce. I just feel like those are two competing flavors and not complimentary to each other.
We also got the pb & j burger. Sounds weird but its actually delicious. For me I could have used more pb.... I love pb and the fact that they use chunky pb is awesome. The meat tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly... medium. The bacon lardons (thick cut bacon chucks) added a nice saltiness to the sweet pb&j. I would totally order this again. We got fries as the companion but you can decide to get a peanut coleslaw or red quinoa. The fries came with a side of sriracha ketchup, which is not for me. I like my ketchup to just taste like ketchup.
As for the drinks, I personally am not a big drinker.... i'm still learning. But the Irish coffee was good. Although I thought it could have been sweeter. My bf got the coffee stout, which he said he like... again not for. But I'm not a beer drinker. He also got the guavalajara. Which had a lovely presentation and delicious flavor. My bf said he could drink those all day. You could taste the basil. Very nice.
This place was very nice and I love the look of the menu and...
Read moreThis restaurant is wonderful! I came here to dine-in and to celebrate my cousin’s birthday. I must say that the staff were very friendly and accommodated my large party. The bartender Javi is a joy to chat with and the cocktails they make are excellent! The new menu has plenty of selections for people with different palates, so everyone can get what they like (even my picky 8 & 10 year old nephews). I also love how they have board games for social entertainment. I’m a chicken wings kind of guy, which I am happy they offer, but a must try at least once is their crispy cauliflower! I was surprised by its crispy texture and savory flavor, to which I ended up ordering more haha. The theme of an “after-school” club vibe is fun, interesting and prevalent throughout the whole restaurant. When I think of “school”, I think about the PB&J sandwiches I ate a lot as a kid. Behold my surprise when I found out they have a a PB&J Burger!!! I was skeptic to try it at first, but boy am I glad I did, as that burger hits a delicious balance of sweet and savory! I have NO REGRETS! Haha! Overall, my friends, family & I had a wonderful time at this restaurant and I will certainly...
Read morePublic school is a cool new gastro-pub. They have a great selection of beer, appetizers, and main courses. My favorite things to get are the bacon cheddar tots and the cutting board. I like the cutting board the best because it gives you such a variety of meats with great jams and spreads to put on slightly toasted bread. Definitely worth checking out. They have alagash white on tap there which is a major plus in my book. I have things here and liked them:
Bacon Cheddar Tots $7 sriracha ketchup
Crispy Ahi Tuna Tacos $10 jicama avocado salsa, ponzu, lemon aioli, crispy wonton shells
The Cutting Board $14 chef selection of cured meats, artisan cheeses
Prime Flat Iron Steak with Truffle Butter $26 chorizo mac & cheese with sea salt & vinegar crunch
Jidori Brick Chicken & White Bean Ragout $25 sautéed kale, slivered garlic, soffrito, blistered tomatoes
Beer Battered Fish & Chips $15 cod, rémoulade sauce, malt vinegar, sriracha ketchup
I would recommend all these things. I have had others but they were not good enough to...
