Lads and lasses, if you're lookin' for good Irish cuisine, this place will fit the bill.
Atmosphere: I'm a huge fan of Downtown Culver's recent European-style street seating. The interior of Auld Fella has a modern-yet-auld-timey (I had to) Irish pub feel with pictures of bands on the walls. The music consists of some Irish tunes and some 90s songs, if I recall correctly. Zero complaints from me. Go here with one of the top three people ever to exist, like I did, and enjoy.
Food: My friend and I ordered the buffalo cauliflower to start and guiness beef and mushroom pies as mains. The pies came with fries, mushy peas, an aioli sauce, and beef drippings. Everything was just about as good as the same dishes i've had in Ireland. While writing this review, i'm reliving the meal and realizing that I want to go back soon and order the same thing, even though the rest of the menu looked great.
Drinks: I got an Auld Fashioned and my friend got a Freckled Mexican, then we both got the Auld Fella Chocolate Stout. All were great. If anything, maybe the chocolate stout wasn't very chocolatey, but it was still good beer.
Service: Pretty good. Our server did forget about us at one point, but I get it - I'm forgettable [spirals into a life crisis].
Life Crisis: Moderate strength.
Price: For the quality and authenticity, it's...
Read moreI loved this place. Tons of outdoor seating. I thought I was just going to an Irish bar, but instead I was going to a full restaurant and Irish bar. The food was an unexpected total stand out. I couldn't believe how big the menu was. I guess I was just misinformed. We got the curry fries and mushrooms to start. The fries were delish, although I like them a bit crisper. The curry was truly tasty to dip in. The mushrooms were a hit, too. Main course was Veggie Shepard's pie, Rooster pie, and corned beef. All yummy. Impressed with the number of vegetarian options. Ordered a snakebite to drink and the waitress was so kind and wanted to make sure what we thought was a snakebite was the same as they did. One of my favorite things about that place was the music playlist. Total 80s alternate rock excellence. you can tell the person who owns the place is really into music by all the photos on the wall in the playlist was Primo. With definitely return and I can’t wait to. only thing I missed was...
Read moreour first time to dine here and we left happy and full! we had the garlic blossom with some nicely toasted bread, tomato soup and the classics: fish & chips and sheperd's pie (vegetarian option). it was nice to have a vegetarian option on the classic pie. the veggies they used were fresh and crunchy (how i prefer on veggies). my only critic is that i feel that the rosemary was overpowering, but otherwise really good. my husband enjoyed the cod. he requested cocktail sauce, but since they did not have it, the chef was kind enough to whip out some homemade cocktail sauce for us; which we thought was a really nice consideration (they could've easily just said they did not have it). our server, jelena, was also nice...
