PLEASE READ REVIEW BEFORE GOING TO THIS RESTAURANT!!! Taking our 4 kids on a last trip for the summer, deciding to go to this restaurant for the last day was the worst decision of the entire trip. The waitress that we had was very kind, however it took alot of time for our food to come. We started with side salads and ask for more ranch/extra ranch and was told that this small amount(that wouldn't even cover half of the salad) was the last of the ranch that they had. We excepted that being that they were going to close in about an hour. So we order 4 kids meals and two 12oz ribeyes that cost $26 each. Comes with asparagus and your one side.(which we chose the side salads.) Finally the steaks came out, they were warm like they've been sitting for a while. So my wife took a bite out of steak then went to take a bite out of her dinner roll and pulls out this big blondish red hair out of her food. Like anyone she was completely turned off from her food and decided she didnt want it or anything else from them. The manager sent the waitress back over to tell us because she took a bite out of her steak and apparently no one that works there has hair, long hair or that color hair that he would not take it off the bill. So we asked to speak to the owner and he comes over and completely disrespects us by stating he has the longest hair in his kitchen and my wife" was eating the food and then all of a SUDDEN she finds hair", as if she planted the hair in their food. Even though the food was overpriced we wouldn't have went there if we were worried about money. Just like any other family, we know a good steak is going to cost around $26. Money is not the issue. She kindly asked the waitress to send it back and we will pay for all our other food. She didnt want it to go, and still not pay, that was not the goal. The worst part about this and the best part about this is we taught our children a valuable lesson. "ALWAYS TREAT PEOPLE WITH RESPECT,KINDNESS AND HONESTY.RUN A BUSINESS WITH DIGNITY AND TO BE HUMBLE. IF YOU OWN A BUSINESS, YOU KNOW THE ONLY WAY YOUR BUSINESS SUCCEEDS IS FROM THE CUSTOMERS THEMSELVES." A bill of $106.00 , disappointment In the owners behavior and complete frustration, we composed ourselves and wished the staff a great night as we left. Honestly I feel bad for the waitresses there because they were not the problem. If I could I would rate this restaurant and the owner at a "0". But the waitress made it...
Read moreSO WHEN IN CUSTER,SD BEWARE OF THIS RESTAURANT PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO ALL OF THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS THEY ARE SPOT ON SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GIVE A REVIEW FOR THE WAITRESS WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN 5STARS AND THEN THE COMMENTS THAT WOULD HAVE REALISTICALLY EARNED THE FOOD A NEGATIVE 5STARS
FIRST THINGS FIRST I ALWAYS TRY TO BE OPEN MINDED ON A RESTAURANT WHEN READING REVIEWS..... I REALLY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE ADVICE.... WE HAD A PARTY OF 12 THE RESTAURANT SEEMED CLEAN DID HAVE A BIT OF A STALE ODOR IN THE AIR BUT WE WERE HUNGRY WILLING TO LOOK PAST THAT 1 PLUS WAS THAT WE WERE SEATED REALLY QUICK WAITRESS WAS VERY GOOD.... CANT REALLY SAY THAT ABOUT THE MANAGER... WHEN I INFORMED THE WAITRESS ABOUT MY HAMBURGER THAT IT HAD TASTED LIKE THE MEAT HAD BEEN SITTING IN A FRIDGE IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!!! I TOOK 2 BITES FIRST ONE I THOUGHT I WAS OFF BUT THE SECOND CONFIRMED THE FOWL TASTE , ANOTHER MEMBER OF MY PARTY HAD THE HOT CLUB THIS SANDWICH WAS LITERALLY 3 SLICES OF WHAT COULD ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS LUNCH MEAT THAT YOU WOULD PURCHASE AT A GROCERY STORE IN THE LUNCH MEAT SECTION REALLY ANF THEY HAD THE GAUL TO CHARGE $12 FOR 3 SLICES OF LUNCH MEAT AND A SPOT OF CHEESE.....ANOTHER MEMBER HAD FISH & CHIPS THAT TASTED WATER LOGGED ENOUGH SAID$20..... SO BACK TO THE MANAGER INSTANTLY WAS IRRITATED WITH US I HAVE NO PROBLEM PAYING FOR A GOOD MEAL AND LEAVING A HEALTHY TIP..... THIS PLACE FORCES A 18% GRATUITY OVER 6 GUEST.... WHEN IT IS GOOD FOOD I DON'T MIND THIS AT ALL SINCE I TYPICALLY LEAVE %25-30 SO ALL IN ALL I WENT TO THE LOCAL GAS STATION AND PURCHASED A PRE PACKAGED SANDWICH THAT TOTALLY BLEW THE FOOD AT THE CAPTAINS TABLE OUT OF THE WATER.... SO I WAS CURIOUS ABOUT THE LOCALS REACTION TO THIS PLACE AND THE REMARKS WERE THAT WHEN THE OWNERS ABOUT 3 YRS AGO OWNED THE PLACE IT WAS AMAZING AND KNOWN FOR THE BEST PRIME RIB AROUND UNFORTUNATELY NOT THIS CASE ANYMORE...... SO WHEN OM VACATION I WOULD TOTALLY STEER CLEAR OF THIS TRAIN WRECK OF FOOD OF A PLACE THAT CLAIMS TO BE A RESTAURANT THE CRAZY THING WAS THAT THE BILL WAS A WHOPPING $ 225.92 I ADDED A COPY OF THE BILL SO ALL WOULD KNOW THIS WAS LEGITIMATE AND NOT A TROLL JUST...
Read moreWe ate at the Captains Table on a Monday night in September. I wasn’t impressed by how the place looked on the outside but given our choices in Custer were very limited on a Monday, I decided to take a chance. It was a VERY BAD decision. First impressions count and it was awful. The place smelled of stale smoke, the serve had dirty clothes, didn’t look like he had showered in some time, and had missing teeth. The inside looked old (as in REALLY old) and run down. The waitress was not very quick but seemed friendly. First, she messed up the beer ordered but given I asked for Kona, and she thought I said Corona, I give her some grace. The food was very greasy, and my shrimp was missing the cocktail sauce, the only other item it was to be served with. By the time we were done eating, all we wanted to do was get out of there as quickly as we could. I gave the waitress my credit card and she returned with the bill. The bill was in a black case and truthfully, since my card was a very deep blue, I don’t know if the card was with the bill and I was so anxious to leave that I missed it or it was not returned. I didn’t discover the missing card until the next day. The restaurant isn’t open on Tuesday or Wednesday and there is no after-hours number posted. When I contacted the credit card company, I learned four additional charges had been made about an hour after we left. I contacted the police who discovered the card was on the counter next to the credit card machine. The story I was told is that the machine was extremely sensitive and picked up my card when the four other charges were made. This seems a bit fishy and furthermore, it seems odd that no one questioned the fact the card was sitting there and made no attempt to contact the credit card company who could have notified me. I urge any traveler to Custer South Dakota to avoid this place even if it is a Monday night. You are better off at fast food restaurant than at this place. I give it no stars but unless I give at least one in the system, I can't post...
