When you follow the sound of the music behind your hotel, found an awesome local live music venue and restaurant! Support local live music at Custer Beacon! @A Brother’s Fountain

This place might as well be the Custer, SD visitor center. We were in town (or just outside of it) for three nights and we stopped by every night for food, live music, and karaoke. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the only MUST during our entire trip in South Dakota. We did a lot: Mount Rushmore, ATVing, hiking, Deadwood, but The Beacon is what I find myself thinking about today at work. The food was really good (I got ribs) and was served from the side building after ordering from the bar. The interior venue space is large and well-designed. They have tables near the bar with pool tables and a few high-tops but the stage is surrounded by couches. I absolutely LOVED this. Coffeehouse vibes but with a prairie spin. I get the feeling that this place functions as kind of a town hall. I feel like we met a good cross-section of the town while we were there. I cannot speak highly enough of those we met here. It was truly the perfect welcome to the Black Hills. My only regret about my time in Custer is that we did not spend more time here. The bar staff was fantastic, the food was great, and the locals were friendly. The Beacon has a good mix of locals and tourists, especially in the later hours. DO NOT MISS this place. I am not sure if I will ever be back to Custer, but if I do, I hope I can stop by and have a drink. Thanks for the memories!

We had a fantastic meal here - it was surprisingly the best meal we had on our trip and it was also one of the cheapest. The positives: the staff was great, the nachos were amazing, the huckleberry ice cream was surprisingly good, and the atmosphere was awesome - very chill and laid back. The negatives: the $6 margaritas are not freshly made it was straight from a premix. Maybe I should have known based on the price, but it's definitely not what I expected from a bar. The lime one was decent, but the strawberry was so terrible I ended up just shooting back so I wouldn't have to taste it. The cardamom pineapple cake i had didn't have a very good crumb and was kind of cornbread-y. The parmesan garlic wings weren't terrible, but they weren't what my daughter was expecting due to the strong smoky flavor so we didn't end up eating them.

Last week we had the privilege of eating at The Custer Beacon while staying in Custer, SD. First let me say that we are "Foodies" from Nashville, TN and after meeting Vince the Head Chef and Luke the bartender, we knew we were right at home. Luke is an absolutely amazing host and welcomes everyone in as if they are family. Vince actually hung out with my me, my wife and 12 year old daughter before the kitchen opened and told us all about his amazing food creations he is working on for the Beacon. We tried at least 5 different dishes and all were independently created and absolutely amazing. Vince has a unique gift with food creation and totally blew our minds!!!! Please try Vince's custom salsa, the Burge Bombs, the broccoli cheese soup and Cubano sandwich. None of these dishes are like any other dish you have had before. All unique with Vince's spin and delicious creativity. Everyone please drive one block off the main drag in Custer, SD and experience the best hidden...

I am local resident in Custer! Was always nice and polite customer! Tonight my family and our guest went to Bekon , when enter some drunk tourist approached me and poke me in my chest and told me:” I don’t like your shirt” my shirt had” white lives matter “ on it. I asked him to get off my face , he still insisted on conflict and tried to touch me again( he was white himself “, I told him that in South Dakota it’s not a tradition to touch people and mentioned that many residents have guns and it is not the smart thing to do in SD. He complained to the bar tender that I said “ I will shoot him” which is a lie! That lady who he complained to told me that I have to leave the Becon. I tried to explain that the customer was drunk and he touched me , also I have whitenesses. She didn’t want hear anything , she said” I don’t want to hear that”! I am starting the law suit ! Would not recommend that place to anyone! I felt like being in some very discriminative...
