Tiki Underground — Restaurant in Cuyahoga Falls

Drinks, atmosphere, & bar staff - GREAT! No complaints. Had this been my only experience here, I'd have given 5 stars.

Food - Four stars. Not a long wait, somewhat tasty but didn't blow me away. I had the buffalo cauliflower bites and crab rangoon. My friend had the burger and said it was excellent.

Service.... Here's where the problem is with me and why I won't go back or recommend it. If you come in as a party of two, you'll be treated like an inconvenience. Last night, my friend arrived no more than 5 minutes before me and asked for a table for two. He was told tables weren't available yet but that we could sit at the bar while we waited or we could be seated outside (it was cold out, so no thanks on that one). The bar was fine to get things going until a table was ready (very normal). But as we're waiting for the table to be ready, the hostess asked my friend what felt like one thousand times if he's sure he wanted a table and not to remain at the bar (most tables are four top and they probably didn't want to waste their precious four tops on us). My friend reiterated that yes, we would like a table. We were there to catch up, have drinks, and have food and so yes, we wanted a table so we could be comfortable and have a face to face conversation.

A four top soon became available but instead of sitting us there, the hostess asked if we wouldn't mind sitting at the lounge with another couple. The lounge is a set of couches at the front of the restaurant. Since it was clear they didn't want to give us a table, we said sure. What we didn't really know before agreeing to that was that the lounge didn't really have a place to set down plates other than these tiny side tables. Additionally, because of where we were seated, the wait staff couldn't reach us and had to at times have the strangers next to us pass our food and drinks over to us. Had I known this would be the case, this would have been a hard pass for me because I think that's gross. But whatever, I'm all for an adventure and it wasn't going to kill me, so I would have managed this without complaints even though I didn't love it.

What broke me was this... The couple next to us was done with their food and drinks before we were and they paid for their dinner and left. Mind you, I just checked my Google maps and we weren't even there at the restaurant for two hours total, including our first 30 or so minutes at the bar. We each ordered food and three drinks. We weren't planning on staying too much longer as my friend just wanted to finish up his beer, but the wait staff came up to us and asked us to move back to the bar because apparently they had a table of 8 that came in. Now come on. At this point I was just completely frustrated because clearly they didn't want to waste a table on us earlier so they offered to either put us outside in the cold or put us in the lounge with two strangers when we weren't there to make friends we were there to catch up with each other, enjoy some drinks and enjoy some food. We agreed to the lounge at their request and yet, when they needed that area for a giant party, they tried to move us again. When we stated that we would rather stay there until we were done, the hostess paced back and forth impatiently in front of our area willing us to be done.

Don't bring anyone from out of state! Went with my daughter and nephew to grab a fun drink. They asked for ID's at the door which is pretty normal as both kids are 22 and look young. We waited 25 minutes and finally got a table. After reviewing the menu we went to order. Our waitress asked for ID's again which both kids immediately pulled them out only this time our 25ish year old server said that my nephews ID was fake. Basically because he's visiting from another state. I asked her the problem and in her expert opinion it was missing markings. I asked her which markings she might be referring to and she said some markings, I don't know. How are you going to argue with that. Absolutely stupid. Instead of engaging in an argument, we politely grabbed our stuff and left.

We ended up at a Speak Easy called Watsons down the street and had a wonderful drink and experience. We highly recommend Watsons! It's only a few steps away in the "Post Office".

We will not return to the Tiki hole and if you have any out of state visitors during the holidays or other times, you shouldn't either. GO TO WATSONS!

Response: ID, not ID’s. The fact that you say THEY lets me know you weren’t present or informed correctly. iD has holograph and is not “off center”. If that was indeed the case and you are so serious about ID’s, why was there not an issue when reviewing at the door? You did NOT OFFER TO CALL THE AUTHORITIES! That is a lie as well. Their food and drinks are really good but their service not so much. The first time we went there service was great but the music was very loud. The second time we were ignored for and never got service. We waited like 40 minutes before we decided to leave. I get it, it was during some of the re opening from the covid regulation but it also wasn't that busy.

When we first got there I went inside , not knowing what to do the bartender basically pointed out towards get out. Ok so we sat ourselves at the table. We weren't sure what to do as we were waiting for a friend to join us. So we weren't in a huge hurry. The servers didn't know we were waiting for a friend to join us. At first we were just waiting around. Then we see the server go to a big party. Still no big deal we just assume that they are busy. After 25 minutes pass they all get their drinks and even food. Still nothing. Another server comes right by us and then sits down to the table behind us and talks with them. That's good but they had to have seen we were just sitting there. They get up, and a few minutes later these girls sit down. The second they sit down they are greeted with a server. We get up to leave and tell them we are just going to leave. They have no idea what even happened or why we were upset. We were even in the parking lot trying to decide where to go next. She saw me in the parking lot and didn't even try to get us to come back. When we told them they were upset not even an apology or anything.
