I typically do not like to go to hotels, however when I do I normally enjoy my stay. Not so much with this particular facility. I was not the one who reserved the room, however as a guest I was completely disappointed. As everyone knows, no hotel usually allows a party of any kind. Due to a few family members in town visiting they wanted to say goodbye to my nephew who was at this particular hotel while my sister wanted to relax for the weekend. That being said, My daughter, husband and I arrived to wish my nephew a happy birthday since I was unable to do so the week prior and I wanted to say my goodbyes to few relatives stopping by before they left town. On my way to the pool which my sister said my nephews and friends would be, I had a women run after me saying you cannot swim in the pool. I said "excuse me"? She said, the pool is reserved for those that are staying in the hotel. First, I wasn't even greeted with a hello. She automatically went to demanding what was not allowed. Second, she didnt know if we were going to swim or not. Third, nothing that Im aware of at any hotel (especially at each hotel that I've ever been to) states that your guest cannot swim in the pool. Eventually my sister lets me into the pool room. I didn't get into the pool but my daughter did join with my nephews(2) and his other 2 guest. The "manager" pulls my sister to the side and demanded that she fix the situation as she can not have multiple ppl in the pool. I decided that it would be best if me and my daughter left and my sister decided that it would be best if we sent my nephews friends home as well. As we were upstairs changing clothes, my sister got a phone call to her room saying that we all had 15 minutes to leave...no refund. We decided to do what was suggested as I was getting ready to leave either way but we did want to talk to the manager. I politely asked why we were being kicked out on our way out. The manager said that " he was told that we had multiple guest coming out of the rooms and into the pool and that's considered a party." We only had one room and from my understanding, after my sister got the 4 kids changed for the pool upon arrival, they were in the pool at least until we got there. That being says, there was another black family/group there that the staffs must've assumed belonged with us. I was so disgusted/disturbed with how everything went today. My family members from out of town never did get to see my nephew and we weren't there for even 2 hours before being forced to leave. However, the manager did keep saying we were leaving voluntarily even though we were told we had 15 minutes to vacate. I WILL never do business here and normally I do not like to pull the race card but to automatically assume that another black group of ppl plus her group of ppl was all together is INSANE. It wasn't my money spent here, but it was my time wasted. Be careful for those with skin of color. We all will be considered as coming in together to this hotel and have parties apparently. Keep your money and go somewhere where you'll feel appreciated and...
Read more|I checked in from 10/11 through 10/13. I was told by the front desk and a text that house keeping would come by on the third day. No problem. They stated housekeeping will be coming by every 3rd day. 10/12 someone knocks on my door twice saying housekeeping, twice and knocked even though I said no thank you. Then I received a phone call from a man that did not give me his name. ||Thus he did not announce who he was. No should be a complete answer to a stranger making demands without a reason given.|This man's voice on the phone then told me that housekeeping had just came by. I responded with yes, I don't need housekeeping and I'm fine. He stated they needed to get into the room. I asked why and he said to check the shower. I said no. He then said they would just check something in the shower.||Now I had just an hour before took a shower and nothing was wrong with the bathroom nor shower. So I said they could not come in at this time. He pressed again and I said no. He then asked why and I stated I had three business calls I had to be on the next few hours and no. He then asked when they could get in the room and I said I didn't know, tomorrow morning.||Again I would like to stress this is my second day in my room. I was told house keeping would t be coming by. I was also called by a man who did not announce who he was and was harassing me to gain access to my room.|I am a woman traveling alone. This is beyond unacceptable behavior. I didn't open the door I don't know if it was house keeping or not. Beyond that a man who did not give his name nor state he was front desk spoke to me demeaning and was very determined to get into my room to check as he said something in the shower. Which I just took and was fine.||Later in the day I did go to the front desk and found out that the man working the first day shift was name. I attempted to call the corporate office and log a complaint- however that is impossible because they have enlisted some phone bank in another country and most of those phone operators barely speak English.||I travel through Ohio at least four times a month with my company and as a solo female traveler who values what is told to me "house keeping comes on the third day" , values my privacy, and most importantly my safety- will NEVER stay with this company again.||Train your male employees how to treat women. Especially women that are their paying customers.||To be clear my reservation was/ is for 10/11 through 10/13. Two nights. I politely declined whomever was knocking at my door. I politely declined strangers demands and pressure.||No , thank you. No. Not today. Should be a complete sentence and I should not have to explain myself to a stranger on the phone that is demanding access to my hotel I am traveling.||See photos below for additional details as then I received texts with the man actually claiming no one knocked...
Read moreI am giving two stars because the woman who initially helped was absolutely wonderful and the place was generally sanitary and beautiful. HOWEVER... my issues was not dealt with as promised and I am highly disappointed. On March 23rd, I stayed at this hotel because I was presenting at a conference early the next day. I woke up at 4:00AM because I felt something on my neck. I started to drift back off into sleep until I realized I was in a hotel. I jumped up and turned on the light. Yes, it was a GIGANTIC BED BUG. I immediately dialed 0 and a very kind woman came to help. She put the BED BUG in a napkin to show the manager. I was moved to a different room. I did not sleep, obviously paranoid about more critters crawling on me. I am a chronic ear plug wearer and of course this happens the night I did not have ear plugs in and that bug was very close to my ear. The woman who helped me saw the terror on my face and looked equally terrified.
I went to the conference and received a phone call around 12:00PM on March 24th from the manager, Dion (SP?), who was initially accommodating. He apologized to me and reported that an investigation would ensue and that I would receive a full refund. When we got off the phone, I noticed that my card was actually charged TWICE in addition to the $50.00 overnight fee. So, that's 110.99 x 2 + 50...that might not seem like a lot to you, but I am in no financial position to be throwing around an additional $110.99.
I immediately called to let the hotel know that my card was charged twice. The woman on the phone was nice and told me to call back if the charges were there in five business days. Five business days pass and one of the $110.99 charges and the $50 were taken off of my account. One $110.99 charge remains. Therefore, I did NOT get a full refund for my stay that was ruined by a BED BUG. I recognize that sometimes bugs are carried into hotels and that the infestation does not start there. I am not saying this place is infested. It was really a beautiful hotel with free cookies in the lobby. Everything looked clean and great which is why I was so surprised that I was haunted by a bed bug.
Since that stay, I have called THREE times about the charge. I have yet to receive a call back about the promised full refund. I am disappointed and have grown dissatisfied with how this problem is being handled. On each of the THREE calls, the person on the other end takes down my name and number... then I never get a call back. This is highly unprofessional. I am still waiting for my refund. I will keep calling until this hotel fulfills their end of the deal... which was to provide a full refund following a night interrupted...
