Asian & Mini's Seafood — Restaurant in Cypress

Very pleasant man served us (probably the owner). My mom and I have a tradition of getting seafood, and over the past 10 years the quality of nearly every location has dropped. Smaller portions, less tasty shrimp, less tasty breading, higher prices. Just a disappointment from so many places. NOT THIS PLACE. I got 20 large, delicious fried shrimp with some fries and a water for a GREAT PRICE. The man serving us was very kind and pleasant, and the Shrimp was incredible. It had so much flavor. My mom got the oysters and shrimp, while I got the shrimp only, and the oysters were HUGE. You always get these shriveled up tiny things anywhere else these days it seems. Anyway, it was fresh, delicious, and very generous. I almost couldn't believe it. I thought we were just SoL for seafood until coming here. I also like pad thai, and the pictures of that looked good, but I couldn't resist trying the fried shrimp. Definitely will be coming back! The Good: Egg Rolls and portion size for the price The Bad: everything else

The egg rolls and the sweet chili sauce were good but they didn't have hot mustard which is a staple in Asian restaurants. The pork fried rice, although a good size portion for the price, was barely passable. It had very little taste, very little egg, very little vegetables and no garlic or ginger root for flavoring. The pork wasn't tender, it was overcooked and tough to chew. They didn't have chili paste, which is also a staple in Asian restaurants. Instead the waiter brought out Sriracha chili sauce which only a neophyte would use on fried rice. The taste ruins the rice. I absolutely love this place. The gentleman at the front is always personable, kind, and brings a homey feeling to the establishment. I always look forward to seeing him when we come to order! My family and I have been coming here since we moved to cypress and the food is always up to standard, cooked to order, and seasoned immaculately!!! I’m writing this review before I go order my food. They close at 7PM, so please don’t come after thinking that they will be open. They’re also a family like the rest of us, and I’m more than certain they look forward to and appreciate our business.
