El Jimador — Restaurant in Texas

We went on a week night for dinner so it was fairly busy. We were seated immediately and served chips and hot salsa (as in the temperature . . . ) It was interesting because I’ve always had salsa that was cold but this was pretty good! My family and I were so hungry we just about finished the two bowls they gave us when . . . Our server brought another two bowls with MORE delicious salsa! Seriously, dinner is off to a great start and we didn’t even dig in, dig in yet haha.

We ordered fajitas to share that included beef, shrimp, and chicken. It was wonderfully flavored and cooked to perfection. The shrimp was butterflied and made peeling easier as well as atheistically pleasing. I loved how the protein was seasoned because sometimes at other restaurants, it’s as if they skipped that part because of all the other flavors and ingredients included would make up for it: between the onions, cheese, guacamole, refried beans, etc. means that they didn’t need to. I think that’s the most important part and they did it here! Yum!

The service was wonderful! We always had someone checking on us and whatever refills we needed were taken care of in a timely manner.

When we arrived at the restaurant we were seated quite quickly, and with proper distancing between us and other tables. After we were seated it took 15 minutes to get our drinks ordered. It took 20 minutes for those drinks to arrive. (The entire time we were seated, other people were leaving the restaurant because their food was not arriving). After the drinks came, we didn't see any service for the next 30 minutes. Once we finally got our food ordered it took forever for it to come out, and it was cold, mind you. When my dish came out, (I ordered the Mexican Plate), the taco came without cheese. I asked why the taco didnt come with any cheese and all I got was that it didnt come with cheese (Even though on the menu it says you do get cheese). She offered to bring me some cheese on the side so for the next 20 minutes I ate my enchilada and tamale, waiting for my cheese for my taco. My cheese. I’m not super big on Tex Mex food. I’ve tried parrilladas at other Mexican restaurants and they always fall short. But I keep trying places hoping to find a GEM. I wasn’t recommended this location but let me be the first to recommend it to YOU. This place from the get go met my expectations. Great staff, great service. Fast paced. Their lunch specials are excellent and have a lot of variety. They talk to you in English and Spanish to feel you out. I was really impressed by their food selection and as well as the flavor. You also get 1 free refill with their horchata.

The salsas were delicious, they gave me queso for chips too included. Didn’t have to pay extra. The green salsa definitely my favorite. This meal including drink was $18.29 with taxes. The flavor was on point, I’m not a big fan of rice but the rice was delicious. I will be coming back again to try other menu items. This has easily made it on my must come back list of restaurants.
