I’m not going to try to spell these menu items, but they are both listed as the most popular under buns and soup on the menu.
We arrived at the restaurant at around 1 and ordered some tea and and milk tea. The milk tea was no too sweet, so it was pleasant and drinkable. That was a big worry of ours.
I got the dry noodle dish, it came with a side of carrot and fish sauce to pour on it. The flavor was amazing. The noodles were cooked well and it has just enough peanut to add to the flavor without taking away from anything else or being over bearing.
The soup though was out of this world. My friend ordered they spicy soup and said “make it hella spicy” and they asked if he was sure. Yes! So they added a lot more chili oil to the sauce. It was not really spicy though. There was a nice initial tingle, but it did not linger like other spices. The flavor was outstanding. I will definitely be back to get it next time.
The only complaint was that we were sitting and having a good time at the end of the meal when the owners(?) came up and boxed our leftover food. That was really nice of them, but they kept coming over every few minutes to push us out the door. I said that I didn’t want a bag for my food since I hate wasting the plastic. And he comes back 10 minutes after boxing our food. He put mine in a bag handed it back and said “thanks for stopping by!” Ok message received that we are not welcome to stay and chat. We left then. That was the only slight negative. We will be...
Read moreHad an excellent lunch here. I got my standard pho dish, pho tai. It was $8.50 which is not too far off what most places charge now, but the quality was superior. The meat was a better grade of beef, I could tell the minute I looked at it. And it was a healthy portion, I was full and didn't even finish the noodles. All the accoutrements were included and the broth was good.
I used to like another place's soups the best and preferred Kim's for the sandwiches because they have a really nice sauce and are great, but now I'm sold on their soups too. My dining mate ordered the vermicelli bowl with pork and shrimp; it looked fantastic although it only had two shrimp.
They also sell boba teas and smoothies here and a selection of spring rolls. They have rice plates too but I haven't tried them yet. Pleasant casual decor and prompt service.
Overall a really good place for Vietnamese in the northwest.
9-Apr-2022 update: about a year ago something changed. The food is still as tasty as ever here but they cut some corners. The sandwiches seem to have about half the meat they used to. It still works, we're still visiting the store. But if you're one of the old customers, you'll notice...
Read moreMy girlfriends and I came and had to sit ourselves, and clean off the food debris off the table. The man (waiter, owner?) came after 10 minutes of waiting and ask what we want to eat? We said, we don’t have the menu. He went and got us 3 menus and said this is a “thực đơn” which is Vietnamese word for “menu”. I said “thực đơn” is menu. He said “we’re Vietnamese”. I said “we’re in the US”. That was very rude and uncalled for, first, he didn’t apologized for the fact we had to clean up the table, didn’t apologized for not having the menus for us, but had the nerve to correct us on the word “menu”??? What kind of behavior is that? I told my girlfriends to leave because that rude behavior ruined our appetite. They said they were hungry, and let just bear with me. We’re still waiting for our food as I’m writing this review, but I’ll talk to that man again once we leave. It doesn’t hurt to be cordial, there’s no winning...
