If you know me you know Im always looking for a good restaurant to support, came to this restaurant, and everything was great, except the keylime cake, and the customer service from the male owner after letting him know the cake was hard. In in attempt to eat a bite it was as if it had been sitting there or maybe in the fridge in an attempt to keep it fresh for days. I asked the waitress for a fresher slice or switch to a red velvet slice or a refund, and the male owner came out extremely offended being that "HE" had baked the cake!! I calmly advised him that everything else, including the red velvet, was good and moist and showed him the difference (by slicing into the red velvet, then attempting to put my fork into the keylime.) He was so offended and pissed that I criticized his cooking . He advised they don't do refunds or exchanges (meaning I couldn't exchange it for another red velvet I could only try another slice of keylime) He did go get another slice which was hard as well. He was also sure to let me know that he had NEVERRRR had any complaints. He had such a bad attitude that I WILL NOT BE BACK!! We drove a good distance simply to support a black owned business to be treated like trash for letting him know the cake wasn't fresh. Crazy thing is I had just told the party I was with I was going to do a good review then đŁ! The entire review isn't bad, but for me CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EVRYTHING! He also was sure to tell me my review wouldn't shut down his business. Sir, I was not trying to shut down your business just let you know the keylime cake was hard. We spent over $80 in this establishment. And I was so mad with him when I left I forgot to leave a tip for the pleasant waitress and the kind women who continued to make sure our table was cleared. We normally leave GOOOOOD TIPS AS WELL $40-$50 tips to support these types of establishments and wherever we have GOOD SERVICE!! Food can be hit or miss but customer service is different. I pray sir that you can learn how to control your demeanor with future customers, because again I love supporting my people. But not to be...
Read moreWe stopped in last night for a hot meal after working the Kumquat Festival. We asked the buser about where to sit but she didn't speak English and just pointed to the cafteria-style line. There are signs post everywhere telling you not to reach in and touch the food BUT there are no signs letting you know what meals are available, what comes with the meal, and how much the meal costs. I ordered the 3 piece fried chicken which was very moist and tasty. I was told it came with two sides and chose the black-eyed peas and squash casserole. The peas were tasty but more juice than peas and were not hot. The squash casserole had way too much cheese and looked more like an orange blob and you couldn't taste the squash. My meal was $14.99 and not really worth the price. My sister ordered ribs which were small and not very many on the plate. Unfortunately, she wasn't told how many sides to pick and ended up being charged $3 more for a bowl of canned corn paying $18.99 for her meal. Our friend ordered meatloaf and it was dry and she didn't finish it all because it was bland. She did rave about the cabbage and said it was very flavorful.
The buser was way too efficient and took her job too seriously. She constantly hovered around our table to collect the empty dishes whilw waiting for us to finish our last bites. We felt like we needed to guard our plates so we could finish our meals. The buser needs to be taught to remove dishes and glasses from behind a diner and NOT reach across someones plate while they're eating. We also had no offers to refill our drinks.
We like to support small businesses but will not be back to this restaurant. It's very dingy and needs to be...
Read moreI went to stephs soul food restaurant And I ordered the steak And gravy dinner and the Server behind the counter When She picked up my meat I guess she felt it was too big even though it was one piece of meat that was together and she deliberately broke a piece of the meat off and replace it with gravy. And I felt that was real Petty and weird. And one time one of the servers Blew her nose in the kitchen Which was by the food Where I could see And although she did wash her hands after she blew her nose in front of me which I couldn't believe. I mentioned it to the owner Of stephs Soul food restaurant And told him that I need for him to bring me my food because I didn't want her touching it because I'm squeamish. And I couldn't believe she didn't go in the back to do That and the owner of stephs restaurant said he would handle it. So yeah I just don't like the atmosphere at stephs soul food restaurant And when I see people doing things like that, like blowing their nose around food and stuff. It turns me off and there's too many other Restaurants to have to be at stephs Soul food restaurant To witness something like that and I feel if you allow your employees to blow their nose wherever they feel like it. God only knows What the Owner of.stephs Restaurant is letting His servers do around the food in the back of the restaurant where nobody can see them. So based off this, I won't be back Because I take my...
