Finally after much delaying I got around to trying out "Timmy Jon's BBQ" which is located in what for long time Dade City residents was the old Pizza Hut on the bypass at:
14810 US-98 BYP, Dade City, FL 33523
Ph. 352-467-7080
Hours: Monday-Tuesday: Closed Wednesday - Thursdsy: 11 AM - 8 PM Friday - Sunday: 7 AM - 8 PM
Upon arrival, Sandie and I found the restaurant bright, clean, and comfortably minimalist. We wanted to try the brisket, but it wasn't ready yet—though we did get a sample before leaving.
Instead, we opted for the pulled pork and an Armadillo Egg each. Sandie had the one-meat combo with baked beans and coleslaw, while I chose the sandwich combo with baked beans. Both enjoyed the pulled pork's smoky flavor and tender texture, complemented by the homemade barbecue sauce madecwith Molasses and Brown sugar. My pork was served on a buttered brioche bun that held up well.
The Armadillo Egg, featuring a jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese, wrapped in sausage and bacon, was a tasty appetizer. I thought a spicy sausage version would be a fun twist!
The baked beans were flavorful with bits of meat, and a dash of Tabasco enhanced them nicely. I can’t comment on the coleslaw since I’m not a fan, but Sandie found it just average. Dishes were garnished with Pickles and Pickled Onions.
We were thrilled to finally taste the brisket, which was tender, juicy, and flavorful with a nice smoke ring.
Service was quick and friendly; we enjoyed chatting with Timmy and the staff. Overall, we had a great experience and look forward to...
Read moreWe were wondering if the name had changed for the business or the owners. It is the same building, but new owners! The food was really good and fairly priced! We had the brisket 🐮 and ribs 🐷. The brisket was everything you can hope for and my husband said his ribs had a lot of 🍖 meat!! The sides were also delicious 😋. We ordered something that was like a cornbread soufflé with jalapeño. I’m not sure exactly what it was called, but we did not have any left over! We also ordered the sweet potato casserole, which was delicious. 🤤
They have revamped the inside to make it much more open. The owners are very friendly and very family friendly! Every table is completely covered with paper to draw on and each table has an abundance of crayons! The owner also brought over a cute little highland cow 🐮 toy for our toddler. I thought it was really nice and a unique toy.
The esthetic has that local feel, but with a modern style. The art on the building is beautiful. You can see the smokers on the outside.
Overall, it seems like a very nice local couple running this business, with a fresh enthusiasm. I’m not sure their background, but it seems like they genuinely know how to make yummy quality food and know how to make it kid friendly!
I would HIGHLY recommend for quality good BBQ 🐷 🐮 🐔 and FAIR prices. 💰
Let’s support local businesses like this so we can frequent them for years to...
Read moreI stopped by Saturday at 3pm. I talked with Tim and his wife. Very nice people. Tim told me a bit about his menu and his background. I asked What was his best item and without missing a beat he said the brisket. He added you can't go wrong with the ribs and pulled pork. We talked about his smoked chicken and turkey and I shared an idea about smoked turkey pot pie and cheddar bay biscuits. That's what we do at our house with leftover smoked turkey and smoked chicken. So I ordered the 2 meat dinner. Smoked brisket and smoked ribs with the sweet potato casserole and the homemade mac n cheese. It came with in house made pickles and pickled red onions. Now I'm a bit of a BBQ snob/purist. I do my own smoked meats so I know what I'm looking for in a good smoked meal. The brisket was delicious. I had the lean and it was moist and tender with a great beefy smoked flavor. Not over smoked or dirty smoke. Then I ate the ribs. I smoke a ton of ribs so again I know what I'm looking for at least for me. Tim's ribs are on point. Not overcooked and not undercooked aka tough. They had that perfect bite through consistency and we'll flavored. His BBQ was tasty and the homemade pickles pickled red onions were very delicious. "I ain't mad at it" overall Tim does BBQ right. I strongly suggest you...
