Barfly — Restaurant in Dallas

My wife and I went to the Nelly and Ja Rule concert, then stopped by this bar afterwards for a drink. She waited in the car while I went inside to grab us a spot because it was raining. The second I walked in, the bouncer looked me up and down and rudely told me to stand to the side even though no one else was waiting. He gave me a hard time for no reason, but I eventually got in, ordered my drink, and waited for my wife.

When she came in, the same bouncer suddenly turned polite offering her a towel and drying her off. Meanwhile, I never got that treatment. It felt offensive and personal. I brushed it off, but as I told the bouncer I was waking my wife to the car then coming back to user restroom and finish my drink , I set my drink down for a moment while on a chair, and the bouncer ran over yelling at me again, extremely rude, telling me not to put my drink there. At that point it was clear he had an issue with me, likely because we’re a mixed couple.

He eventually asked me to leave, so I didn’t even get to finish my $38 Clase Azul drink. Maybe he was having a bad night, but my whole group noticed the same behavior. Honestly, it came across as racist and ego driven. The place itself is kind of a hole in the wall, and while the vibe seemed like it could have been decent, we didn’t stick around long enough to find out. I usually never leave reviews but I wanted to point out a few things. I came here on Monday evening after work and wanted to relax and unwind with some friends. To start things off, security was on POINT. He was very thorough. The bar was fairly empty but it was cozy, the vibe was friendly. Thennnn we get to the service provided by the female bartender, she wasn’t very friendly towards my guests and I. It was very short and straight to the point. It wasn’t until a group of people that came it (it seemed as if she knew them; friends maybe?) that she lit up. She took our drink orders and immediately went to talk to the group of people that came in. It took about 25mins for her to get our drinks to us and even then it seemed as if she was in a rush to get back to talk with the group that came in after us. This place used to be great back when Brian worked here, could always show up late at night and expect good vibes. Not sure if management changed or what happened but afterwards it’s just been down hill. They really don’t treat their old customer base the same. It’s fine to try to improve the place but to disregard all your old base is not the way to go. I say this because we’ve had some bad interactions with some of the bartenders there, especially Danielle. She really should not be working behind the bar, we need some of the old bartenders back.
