The food was good, the service was okay, but go somewhere else if you have a choice. At least until some adjustments can be made. Why? Because it's EXTREMELY overpriced.
If my memory serves me correctly, the LUNCH SPECIAL Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken was $14.95. The lunch special. Nope. Not going back here. Dallas has wayyyyy too many options for above-average Italian food to spend $20 on the lunch "special" at Campisi's on Campbell. Sorry guys, that is just a little ridiculous.
Then there was another "special" and I'm going off of memory, which admittingly has been waning of late, but it was something like get two pre-selected items for like $10.95, or $11.95. I believe it was a 2-item deal, maybe a small block of lasagna and a spot of spaghetti with marinara, and pretty sure getting a meatball was extra. The kicker... On all their signage depicting the 2-item "deal" it had "NO SUBSTITUTIONS," in big bold lettering. Why? For that price, why would you not let the valued customer decide what two items they desire? Why not offer, say, five pasta-based items that have a similar cost to prepare, and let the customer decide which two items they want? All it is is two half-portions of two menu items anyway. Or possibly have one staple item, such as lasagna that's made in large pans and is relatively low in costs and let the customer choose a second item from a few choices? It gives folks a warm fuzzy feeling when they get to choose something. It just does.
I realize it's not my business and I don't get to choose how this business does business, but I am a consumer, and just happen to be in marketing. I can tell you a little fine-tuning, and a drastic market-based price realignment would serve this business well, and would certainly help in bringing diners back again, after their initial visit. Basically, someone there needs to find the right balance between customer-friendly pricing, verbiage, offerings and treatment and I believe it would add value, and tons of repeat business, to such an already iconic brand as Campisi's. I don't believe anyone expects generic Italian food pricing for a name synonymous with quality, but not off the chart pricing either, especially in a walk-up and order restaurant setting.
*A comparable quality option with, much more affordable pricing, is Besa's on Preston Road in North Dallas, just south of Beltline and across Preston from Chick-fil-A. Nice folks there, and much better service and friendlier, caring and all-round more...
Read moreI was very disappointed in this particular store. Campisis has a reputation for serving quality food and providing great customer service. Not this store on this day. This was my first visit to this location so being a newbie I wasn't aware of the process. We had a reservation for 9. When I got there the young man behind the counter said "well I had this area set aside for you but those kids over there took it. I guess I can put you over here and push some tables together." IF I had a reservation why weren't the kids told as much and moved? The attitude was what bothered me. Then I was asked if I wanted to look at the menu. I agreed while waiting for the rest of the party to show up. After 15 -20 minutes I asked another surly individual behind the counter if we could get our drink order. At no point in time was I ever told it was a self serve restaurant and that you had to order at the front counter. There's no signage indicating this and it is different that other Campisis locations. The young people behind the counter were more interested in discussing their activities from Saturday night than assisting customers. Again, being a new customer I expected a lot more than fast food order taking.
I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo w/chicken...it was over $12 for a lunch portion, the sauce was runny and had a sour taste, the noodles had hair in them, and from the time I ordered it took 30 minutes to get it. Very bad 1st impressions and I will definitely...
Read moreLet's just start off by saying the only thing I liked was the atmosphere and that I was greeted nicely once I walked up to the counter. If I had never been there before I would be a little confused about whether it is a sit down or order at the counter kind of restaurant. We were the only other customers besides one couple who were leaving so I expected to get the food pretty fast. It wasn't super fast but it wasn't long either. When I saw the food I was a bit outraged but decided to see if the quality of the food made up for price. I can safely say it did NOT. I don't understand how this place is still running. It must be with the delivery orders because as I stated before the restaurant was barren and I saw a manager and at least 3 other employees standing around and more came in while we were dining. The manager served us personally and that was the only thing that redeemed this experience. The girl employees would rather gossip or flirt than work. Needless to say I and my family would never come back. A sad thing to say considering I use to rant and rave about another location that is now too...
