Service:

When we walked in there was no one to really greet us. Then after about 5 minutes one person walked up and asked if we were waiting to be seated? Obviously, we were waiting. So we should have taken that cue as of warning already. Our waiter was friendly and nice but the actual wait time was long. We waited 30 minutes for our food.

Food:

We ordered Chicken Fried Steak and Lox Benedict with Tres Leches Pancakes. The chicken fried steak was good. It was your standard cafeteria style taste and texture. We couldn’t tell if it was homemade or frozen. The scrambled eggs were soft and good. The eggs Benedict tasted average. It felt like it was sitting under a heating lamp and did not feel Fresh. The English muffins were too soggy and the sauce was your typical hollandaise sauce. The Tres Leches were the best of our meal. It had the smell of Tres Leches and the look of ordinary pancakes. They large and fluffy and slight chewy in the good sense.

Atmosphere:

It has modern chic farm house feel to it. Decent size dining hall and each table was around 6ft apart for Covid rules.

Price:

Family friendly pricing and decent size portions. If we didn’t get the pancakes then I think we would been comfortable but not full.

Overall:

We started off with a bad experience and food wait time was long. The couple that sat after us received their food first before us and two other tables that were already waiting. The owner was very friendly towards them and took care of them while we waited. I don’t think I would be returning as the service wasn’t great and food...

JJs Cafe do better‼️ I got some Chilaquiles to go and as I was eating them I crunched down on a hard piece of sharp plastic. I called and spoke with the manager and expressed to her what had happened. She asked if I wanted my money back or a credit. I explained to her I didn't want the money, I was calling to let them know so they can find where the broken plastic came from. If someone swallows it it will definitely cause harm to them. I offered to drive back there to show them what it was or send a picture. She stated she didn't need to see it and she would ask the cooks. I said how are you gonna ask them if you don't know what you're looking for. She seemed bothered and was trying to rush me off the phone... and asked me again, so what do you want to do? Do you want a refund or credit? My concern was not about the money, it was for the people eating there. There's lots of families with kids eating there. We spent $135 there and could have easily got my money refunded. It's not always about the money. I was trying to look out for yall, since I genuinely enjoyed your food and atmosphere. You need to retrain your manager or replace her. She clearly doesn't give a damn. Funny thing is I just posted about your restaurant a few weeks ago and recommended yall. Valente Rodriguez this was the place I was gonna take you to when you came down to Dallas. We're gonna have to do a Chicano U-turn on them 🤣 Here are some pics... I thought it was an onion Can you spot it in the food?...

I really had high hopes for this place as im big on reading reviews prior to going to eat anywhere. Took forever before someone came to ask us about drinks. The waitress was an older lady seemed like she was hard of hearing. We were sat down before a party of 6 and it took over an hour for our food to come out. I had drank 2 cups of coffee and still no food. Our food came out at the same time as the party of 6. My chilaquiles were all soggy and steak overcooked and prob like room temp. You could tell it was sitting up there and no one had brought it out. The girl who brought our food was not even our waitress. My husband asked for red onions on his burger and it was missing. Plus it was cold and the bread was soggy. Also, his cheeseburger had shredded cheese on it. Not sure if this is a Texas thing.. but was very odd. Then, she leaves our check at the table along with bringing the food. Is that normal? I've never seen that in Chicago. That to me speaks like eat and get out. Like we're not gonna be checked on after that. Plus we didn't to be honest. I was gonna ask for a to go cup but no one was around so we just left. This is exactly how i left my plate. Not even worth...

Was seated promptly by a friendly hostess but it all seemed to go downhill from there. I asked my waiter his recommendation over 2 dishes so I ordered the veggie omelet with toast and O'Brien potatoes. It took a long time for my plate to come out and others received their food before me who had arrived later. No problem. When my food arrived my waiter told me the kitchen staff were unable to smash the side of avocado I ordered to top my toast. I received 4 thin slices of avocado for which I was charged $4.09 for. No problem. Food tasted OK, but my waiter seemed to disappear. I was finally able to ask him for a side of sourcream to top my omelet. Again, it took a long time for him to bring me a tiny container of sourcream, maybe a tablespoon. When I asked for another, he disappeared again only to return empty handed mumbling something about they did not have anymore packaged up ? What ? Im dining in, just bring me a side dish ! I'd had enough at this point, so I asked for a container to take my omelet home. I can't remember a time I've had such a poor first experience at a restaurant. Will not be returning.

JJ’s Cafe in Dallas is where breakfast dreams go to live their best life. Let’s start with the super chilaquiles (red)—slightly spicy, perfectly crunchy, and who even thinks of including birria with them, and honestly, if I could legally marry a plate of food, this would be it. I almost wrote them a thank-you card. Then came the green chilaquiles, and suddenly I was in a full-blown tortilla love triangle. They’ve got just the right kick—like they were made by a loving abuela who also moonlights as a spice wizard. Churro pancakes? I don’t even know how to explain the joy. Imagine pancakes went on vacation to Mexico, fell in love with a churro, and their delicious baby landed on my plate. I briefly blacked out from happiness. And the waffle? Fluffy, warm, covered in strawberries and whipped cream—it felt like a rom-com moment where I locked eyes with my food and soft music played in the background. I may have whispered, “Don’t ever leave me.” Service was fast, friendly, and somehow didn’t judge me for ordering enough food to feed a small army. 15/10, will return with stretchy pants and zero regrets.
