Lakewood Donut — Restaurant in Dallas

I've been here a couple of times in the past few years. I don't often eat donuts. The thought, honestly, never occurs to me to even get them most of the time. I went in and got take out a few times before, and the folks who run the place were always very nice. The prices are really good as well. Their location is tucked behind some businesses on Gaston, and there is ample parking all over that little shopping center it's located in.

This time, I ordered wingstop on doordash and Lakewood donuts popped up as an option to do a second dash for the same order, so I ordered 6 glazed for $7.20. Box is sturdy, and it was inside of a bag which made it easy to carry it when I got it dropped off. They added a jelly filled glaze and a bunch of donut holes. It was near 12pm, so I take it they were closing, but it's still a nice touch, as no business has to do stuff like this. Also, it's really clear that the donuts were very fresh, even warm when I got them. They have a nice soft consistency, not too overloaded with glaze like some donuts you will get that quickly turn hard, too chewy of a dough, and feels like a weight in your stomach. These were, from what I tried so far, light, airy, and pillowy. Really solid donut, and they prove that you can still make great tasting donuts, different flavors, quality ingredients without charging $5 or more a donut like some places do.

Again, going the extra mile to toss in some extra stuff is not only a solid business idea getting me to try the fantastic lemon filled glazed donut next time (and at a low cost to them), but it's all stuff that makes you want to come back.

I will need to remember this place exists and visit...

The creations doesn't hold a candle to Abrams donuts but these guys do the basics well all while not going ham on the sugar and they are cheaper than Abrams. Definitely recommend these guys if you want something quick and sweet like donut holes or quick...
