I live in the neighborhood and usually love The Heights. I have come here numerous times over the years for both brunch and dinner, and the food and service is typically good. I went to dinner last night, and had the worst customer service I have had in a very long time. I was seated at a table and waited 10 minutes to even have a glass of water delivered. I waited another 10 minutes before having to flag one of the two servers down to ask for a beverage. The older gentlemen waiter said that he would return to take our dinner order. My guest and I waited another 30 minutes to order, and the waiter never returned despite having to walk past our table several times on his way to and from the kitchen. He returned to adjacent tables to take dessert orders while we waited to place our dinner order, and it almost seemed like he was intentionally ignoring us at several points. My guest and I eventually got up and left the restaurant. We walked right past the waiter on the way out and he did not say anything to us or attempt to stop us. It was an incredibly disappointing experience, and I will find it difficult to...
Read moreWhere do I begin? Brunch is outstanding. I like all breakfast meats and asked my waiter to make a recommendation as to what I should order and she suggested the vegetarian sausage. WOW. I have ordered it since then and it is consistently delicious. Also love the migas. The smoked wings are great eating in or as takeout. (I’ve done it both ways) Their wedge salad has a different spin in that it is slightly grilled. Weirdly good!! My friend who travels a lot and has eaten French onion soup around the globe says that their French onion soup is the best she’s ever had and heads over directly from the airport upon her return to Dallas to get some. I tried it myself about two weeks ago and have to agree with her. The crostini with Brie is excellent. I can’t imagine that there is anything on the menu that isn’t wonderful. The atmosphere is fun and warm...reminds me of a place I’d find in Chicago but better because...
Read moreThe Heights has been our go to for years, so much that we bring people from out of town there. We usually love it, but Friday night was disappointing. We ordered the special which was skirt steak at $26 a plate. We ordered an appetizer, and it took a while. I realize they were busy, but it wasn't overwhelming. The entrees took a while too, and when we finally got them, the steak was cold. The mashed potatoes were cold. In addition, it was a super thin piece of steak which lacked flavor. It was not a typical hearty flavorful portion they usually serve. We told our waiter, and he didn't say much. Some people at the table didn't even eat theirs because it was cold. We ordered a drink after dinner, and he gave us one drink as compensation, but that was it. Sadly, we...
