Mariscos La Marina — Restaurant in Dallas

Not a good first impression. Even a worse last impression!

First, the music was WAY TOO LOUD (especially for a lunch crowd). apparently in an attempt to compensate for a REALLY BAD SOUND SYSTEM! (By the way, if you don't like Tejano music, don't even bother coming here). Today was apparently karaoke day, but the show was so bad that only the host and his sidekick were singing (mostly out of key). The entire music experience was not entertaining; it was irritating. I was hoping the rest of the experience would make up for it. It didn't.

When I tried to order, the waitress and I couldn't hear one another. All I could do was to point at items on the menu to order.

Seats are ratty and torn. Tables aren't stable. A couple of roaches and a cricket joined me for the meal, and were NOT practicing social distancing!

Catfish was burnt. Even the chips were burnt Fries! Fries were cold. Mexican food... REAL Mexican food.... is way better than this!

Overall, the only recommendation I can make about this place is to stay...

First time visiting with family from out of town. Extremely loud and unappealing because you can’t hear anything or anyone order or talk. I ordered a soup I didn’t like, I tried it maybe twice and asked to return it and I’d just eat at home. They wouldn’t take it off of my check even though I hadn’t eaten it and returned the food item. I’ve been a server and manager before and have never seen this type of disrespect from a manager or employee. She basically said they wouldn’t remove it because the food item is fine and the taste issue was just me. Never never never returning here again. Not only is the establishment extremely gross and loud but the employees especially management are disgustingly unaccommodating. If you want to run a good restaurant where customers want to come back I’d first listen to what people think and take notes or else it won’t last long in this industry. Before going, my boyfriend and I looked at the reviews so we could know what to expect. Upon arrival we noticed they had valet service, so we walked in with an open mind and wanted to expirience for ourselves. Major dissapointment. I did not mind the kareoke but the service was the worst I have ever had. After being seated we had to actually get up just so we could get the attention of our server. Eventually we noticed that a party of two that was seated after us was asked for their drinks before we were even acknowledged. I would never recommend this place to anyone. If I were to give the owner some advice I would tell him to sell the place because he obviously does not know to manage a business and I would tell the servers to learn how to smile and that the wage of a server pretty much depends on their service towards...
