My fiancée and I love Norma’s cafe. We have come to this cafe many times for breakfast, lunch and dinner and we never have any issues with our waitress, they have a positive attitude, with the exception of today, Dec 9,2023 we decided to come around 10AM. I didn’t get the name of our waitress as she didn’t introduce herself, she was an older white lady with brunette hair and stoic face. She was working the restroom area.
She gave us our coffee and I realized we didn’t have any creamer so I politely asked her if we would get some. She looked at me annoyed and said “isn’t there any on the tray” I told her no. She turn still annoyed and came back with some creamer. After another few minutes she came to get our order, I wanted the catfish, but she said it was too early and that they don’t start until 10:30am. I told her I’d look at the menu for a different dish as she took my fiancée’s order. I didn’t realize until I looked up that she was hovering over me waiting for me to order. I apologized and told her if she could give me a few more minutes so I could look at the menu to see what I wanted, but she could go ahead and put my fiancées order in then come back for mine as I would need more time. She snapped at me and said “no, no I am not putting her order in. I’m not doing that, I’ll just come back when you are ready” then walked away. At this point I looked at my fiancée in disbelief. I get that it was a busy time, the dinner is full and I have worked in the fast food industry myself. My mother also has a catering business and I’ve been a waiter to help her. Mind you, we catered parties of 1,000+ guest and one thing we keep up is a pleasant attitude towards our customers.
I got up and told my fiancée we were leaving. We don’t fault Norma’s cafe for this waitress attitude, but the fact she’s working there with such attitude so early in the morning is mind bugling. We weren’t disrespectful or asking for anything outrageous. I was disappointed in this experience today.
Anyways, we came to the location at the express wy and had such a...
Read moreMy 5 star review is based on the service we received by our waitress after getting treated so rudely upon entering Norman's for lunch. We went in as a large family of 6, I went to the right of the café to see if any tables were available as we were told "seat yourself" walking in. No hello, no welcome to normas, no nothing. Anyways, no tables were available. So we were just going to take the booths in front but the lady at the counter proceeded to tell us not to sit there because, ALL THE TABLES NEXT TO THE WINDOWS WERE CLOSED for the day. So we went around the counter to find 2 booths side by side, one for 3 adults and 2 grown kids and 1 child. Got comfortable and talking about what we wanted to order when both ladies came to tell us we needed to go back around to the room with the larger booths because we would all fit there instead of taking up 2 booths. So we got up and walked over to that other side to only find the same size booths! The waitress had no choice to sit us in booths that were farther apart because she saw 6 of us were not going to fit in a booth. Which made no sense to separate us when we were seated earlier side by side. We told the waitress our experience and SHE PROCEEDED to make our lunch so inviting, so enjoyable and memorable since it was my family's first trip to Normas. She made the kids laugh and definitely made us adults really forget how we were treated at first! Next time we are in the area we will be back and ask for her to be our waitress. She really made our day!! We even noticed the people sitting at the booths at the window as we walked out! Which only made me want to write this review even more! Treat everyone with kindness!! Don't tell your customers to seat themselves then make it a big deal only because you didn't want to wait on a large famly sitting at 2 tables at the same time. Gotta Do Better! St. Patrick's...
Read moreTwo Sundays ago I did what I've NEVER had to do or EVER thought I'd have to do after 42 years of eating here. I complained to the manager about the wait, quality and temp of food and walked out. We waited 10 minutes for our waitress to take our order. 20 minutes for rolls and then waited an additional 57 minutes for two orders. I watched our waitress repeatedly stand by the coffee maker doing some other task and ignore other tables in our section. After 45 minutes from placing our order I got up to see if the delay was due to a packed house. It was busy but not packed. While looking around the place I saw our meal sitting on the pass with multiple other plates. No telling how long the food had been there. 10 minutes later the food is finally brought to the table. COLD. The plate had sat on the pass so long my mashed potato's had a crust on them. Green beans were cold and one of the two chops I got was paper thin and grilled to death. I couldn't even pierce it with a fork. My sons burger was cold INSIDE and the fries were getting stiff. HOW LONG HAD OUR FOOD BEEN SITTING THERE FOR ALL THAT TO HAPPEN. What kind of chef would put out food as sorry as that Pork Chop? Quality of food has suffered here in the last few years. You don't get the same friendly welcome and attention from the staff that was a Norma's staple. It's not the same anymore. I was as devoted as they come when it comes to Norma's. Raised both my sons on their food but it's obvious something is going on. It will be a while until I go back. Maybe by then it will be what I remember. Management was gracious however and "took care" of the bill for two Cokes which is...
