My partner and I came to Anchor about 45 mins before their closing time on a Thursday evening and was treat very well by that staff from start to finish. We didn't feel rush at all. One staff member walked my partner to the restroom after asking if this was our first time here, making sure he knew exactly where to go. Daisy was our server and her energy and service was so amazing. She gave very good recommendations for us to try and Daisy made sure to let us know when last call at the bar was just truly making sure were taking care of as if we had a reservation.
We truly enjoyed each roll and drinks we had. The food was so fresh as well and came out quickly and well presented. We tried the following rolls: The Best Roll, Spicy Tuna, Baked Crab Dynamite and for drinks, I had a dirty martini & Frozen Marg and my partner had a Makers Old Fashioned that you can smell the orange aroma which he truly enjoyed and all were made to perfection.
So hats off to the Itamae's (sushi chefs) working that night, the Bartenders and our server Daisy.
We spoke to the manager on duty and gave thanks to the hospitality we received in short timing. My partner and I will definitely be returning. If you plan to go on the weekend, they suggested making a reservation but walk ins are...

Here’s what we ordered: Crispy chicken bao buns: Did not have high hopes for these, and boy was I wrong for that because these were DELICIOUS! Perfectly crispy chicken, with a great sauce. Hamachi ponzu: Good. The fish slices were thicker than I would’ve preferred, but still nice. Truffle Toro: AMAZING. This melted in our mouths A5 Wagyu Beef: ALSO AMAZING. Also, melted in our mouths. We enjoyed this so much, we ordered another order of this. Lobster and shrimp potstickers: Alright. Lupton Roll: No. just no. We did not like this at all. Definitely not appetizing. The Miyazaki: Absolutely no. We were tricked because this had the a5 wagyu and since the wagyu beef nigiri was so delectable, we had high hopes for this. However, we could barely stomach it. We only had a 2 pieces of this, total and had to send it back. The wagyu was nothing like the nigiri. Instead, it was hard.
Glad we got so much aside from the two rolls, because everything else was solid. We’d come back again.
Total bill was...
Read moreWe love vandelay and went to brentwood and dl macks right after they opened and had mixed experiences. Tonight we came to anchor sushi bar and I will say there is alot of work to be done here. We put on our reservation we wanted to sit at the bar for happy hour and they sat us in the dining room so we couldnt get happy hour. We still both ordered happy hour martinis but they didnt give us the price. Our drinks were 70% full. The saketini was not good at all. Next we got the crispy tuna but it literally came with 3 pieces which makes no sense for a table of 2 or 4. The frosty fried rice was very good. Then we got the anchor roll, best roll, and the miyazaki roll. The anchor roll and miyazaki were SO BLAH. Not spice, no flavor. We wanted wasibi but our server never came to check on us until asking for dessert. Parking is also a nightmare here. I did want to note we tried to get drinks at the bar while waiting for our table to be ready and the baretender told us they couldnt serve us unless we had a table but there was other people waiting...
