Smoking may no longer be permitted but the environment in these "traditional american style" diners rarely lacks their share of flies and is often obnoxiously loud! I still haven't figured out why WH's still have juke boxes.. often blasting out something inappropriate and always annoying noise. Also unchanged is the waitresses that are either seasoned WH pros or clumsy forgetful trainees, regardless, both are overly friendly with the only difference being ones ability to sell the act.
While WH traditionally isn't a restaurant chain known for their cleanliness and even while having this and the other faults, regardless, most people grow to accept or at least not expect too much from a WH. I guess in part because there used to be a comfortable familiarity with this environment and you could depend on a decent level of food quality and care by their waitresses and cooks. But now those days are gone and it's often a coin toss from visit to visit or location to location on what kind of food or service you will receive. But frankly, in my opinion, if you take away the once dependable, and familiar surroundings and consistant care and food quality becomes a coin toss then all the rest is intolerable.
New WH locations are standing up weekly and others are remodeling to update there stores, in an attempt to shake these above stereotypes and to compete in the very competitive world of the fast sit down food market, this particular store has obviously failed to receive the memo! It is an example of everything wrong with the WH "american diner" franchise of old, that only a minority of faithful regulars, weary late night travelers and after hours hungry bar flies would tolerate. This particular store is dirty and greasy oozing from every available crack where caulk has long ago failed and sits leeching from the crevices between its booth seats/tables and their adjoining walls. Even the chains that control the stained blinds over the dirty windows are caked with this dirt filled grease concoction. The "coin flip" (refer to above) at this visit was also not in our favor as we waited too long for assistance, then waited for our water, then waited for our straws, then waited for our overcooked order.. by you guessed it..a clumsy forgetful trainee full of excuses and poor acting skills (again, refer to above). We will not be back to this particular location and would not recommend...
Read moreGood Ole open 24 hour breakfast diner. Eggs and bacon anytime of the day, how can you go wrong. they also have things like pork chops and Sirloin steaks that are surprisingly delicious. if you're going to order hash browns take a second to look over the menu, make sure you get the lingo right. I always get mine scattered smothered covered and lightly peppered, but that's just a few of the options. it's a great place to grab a quick bite for breakfast before going into work it's also a great place to get something on your stomach after a long night of drinking and needing to sober up. it's generally a little bit chilly you may want to take a jacket because from what I understand there is no happy medium. it's either burning up hot or freezing butt cold. for the most part very clean granted you get the occasional spotted Fork or hot chocolate stained coffee mug but if you let the waitress know they will get you fixed right up. If this is a concern for you you can always ask for to-go cups and utensils. My only warning is to watch out for the add-ons for example toppings to hash browns or sides of gravy or refill on o.j. this is how they get you the price can quickly add up before you realize it with all the little extras cuz yes they do charge more for the extras but they don't charge less if you ask for something to be held off. in other words you're going to pay for adding onions to your hash browns however you're not going to get a price break for holding the onions on your cheesesteak sandwich melts. And please remember to tip your waitress if it wasn't for your tips she\he wouldn't even be...
Read moreI've never had such an awful experience at a Waffle House. Called in with it to-go order the lady Debi was extremely rude I had to repeat several times what I wanted. When I picked it up, she had messed up the order... instead of fixing it like she should have, she charged me for what she missed... Which was ok, except she way and charged me. My plate was supposed to have been a triple plate, which would have only been $1 extra. Instead, since she said she "did not hear that" after I repeated it several times.... she charged me for a whole triple plate order. Which ended up being almost $5 and instead of giving me 3 orders of hash browns she only gave me 2 which was wrong also, because she charged me for 3 more. When I told her that she charged me wrong she acted as it doesn't matter because she "didn't hear that" when she should have fixed her mess up for free to begin with. I had no problem paying for my hash browns. However it should have only been $1 plus tax. Not to mention when I told the cook to make sure they were scattered light he snapped at me and said I know I'm the one that cooked it to begin with! I worked at Waffle House for over 10 years and I would never treat a customer like that. So, I will NEVER go back there again. Debi has NO customer...
