I travel for work, and found this to be the closest sushi and hibachi place. Prices were decent. First red flag: At the front desk (where you order to go, which also happens to be where they prepare the sushi as well...don't ask me why), and the guy preparing sushi finished making a roll, and right behind him, there is a $20 toaster over. He proceeds to pop the sushi in there. I thought that was a little odd, but didn't worry too much, as I got either cold, or deep fried rolls. The tempura sushi I ordered (two different type, one shrimp, one lobster) had a crunch so hard that it felt like I was chewing on a crouton. The avocado inside the rolls was completely brown. They didn't even include chopsticks in my to go order. For sushi?! The hibachi was even worse. The chicken was wayyyy overcooked, extremely chewy. I had to put FIVE cups of yum yum sauce just to make it somewhat edible. I still had to spit out 1 in every 3 pieces. I also got a filet mignon & chicken hibachi dinner. Chicken was horrible, and the steak was absolutely not filet. It wasn't cooked medium like I asked, it was full of fat, and they gave me maybe 6 peices in the entire dinner. I was only able to eat one, the rest I had to chew for minutes before spitting out. I've had bad steak hibachi, but that was because I just ordered the regular steak, and not filet. Once I switched to filet, I realized how much better it was. This place however, does not give you filet. Just the fact that they felt comfortable serving straight up brown avocado in my rolls, makes me sick thinking about what else they used that was way past date. Good thing I only work here once a year, and was able to find out how bad this place is, so I don't go here next year! Stay away if you like fresh food that isnt overcooked. Check picture to see the browned avocado, also...that is the total amount of crab they put on top, one little strand. You know that feeling after you eat something when you are so hungry and don't even care about the taste....then you get full and start to realize how disgusting it was, and now you feel sick? Yeah, that's this place.

About a year ago I gave this place 4 stars. Today, they get one because zero stars is not among the options. I ordered shrimp fried rice because my experience eating it there was great. However, this time around I was given old rice, eggs, and shrimps. All three were hard. All three were less than fresh and greasy. It was like they gathered the leftovers to recycle out food. I really believe the Dept of Health should pop up and inspect the restaurant. I’ve never made such a recommendation but you’ll see why in the pictures. You can tell the eggs are old, the rice is hard and uncooked, and the shrimps are hard and stiff. The texture of the shrimps feel like the type “fake” food you see on YouTube. Plasticky. The shrimps and eggs tasted old. Notice the size and color of rice grains. There is long grain and the rice used for sushi- short grain. There are grains that are clear while the others are white, undercooked. I will never go there again. No refund, apology, do over will change my mind. Feel free to try your luck if you wish.

Total of six adults placed three pickup orders. Decent sized orders, we did it several hours ahead of time for a 5:30 pickup. From hibachi, to sushi, pretty much everything in between. We arrived at 5:25, they checked out names/numbers with our orders. Each of us paid. First order was handed to us at 5:31, then the next two 5:32. We are not mad that they weren't ready on the "dot" because we placed the orders hours in advance. We'd rather it put together fresh and we expected maybe a few minutes wait. That was perfectly fine. They also triple checked one of the orders that was complicated just to make sure they had everything correct. There was not a single complaint from any of us. Everything was perfect and fresh, and we have some picky eaters in our group. There's several places around Dalton that have sushi/Hibachi and this is a safe bet!

Update! This place is still amazing! I love the nice new menus! Very handsome indeed! I applaud their dedication to their restaurant and their customers! The food industry is not an easy one to be in these days. I am proud to call Kumo one of my favorite places to eat!

Yesterday 7/20/24, I ordered my favorite sushi, Kumo Dragon Roll, however it wasn’t on the menu anymore. The gentleman (he is amazing) asked me some questions and I showed him my favorite photo from back in the day during one of my very first visits! He recognized what I was asking for and they still made it for me! This sent my heart soaring with joy! Kumo won my heart six years ago and I am still in love with this restaurant today! They never fail to put a smile on my face and make me feel special!

For this trip I was out with my son and a friend, my son ordered a California roll and my friend ordered the chicken and beef teriyaki respectively! The rice was cooked perfectly! Absolutely no issues there! The vegetables were deliciously cooked to perfection! Seasoned well not over cooked and had the perfect bite texture! The chicken and beef were mouth watering! My friend was impressed and was looking to see if he could order delivery to him home! That made me feel good because it means a lot to me to have family and friends enjoy them as much as I do! My son ordered a California roll and said it was great! I ordered the Kumo Dragon, a hot green tea, and got a Hawaiian roll to go! Pure bliss! They didn’t miss a step! The Kumo dragon was a perfect blend of steamed shrimp, avocado, cream cheese, masago, fried shrimp, sauces, and more! And 12 pieces at that! A full meal! The Hawaiian roll was mildly sweet and beautiful as well! A perfect dessert roll in my opinion!

All of the Kumo team were amazing, respectful and great at their jobs! From the time we walked in the door we were greeted with kindness and a smile! We felt at home and well received! We were seated at a booth that was clean and comfortable! We were treated with the utmost care and the team checked on us frequently to make sure we were always taken care of and that our drinks were refilled. I will forever be grateful for the kindness of the whole team, men and women both! Thank you so very much for everything! Angela N.

Previous review: Kumo is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants! Love the atmosphere! The staff are super friendly and are top of the line when it comes to customer satisfaction and care! The food is always immaculate! They even go an extra step further to present your dish in an artistic fashion that's is breathtaking! Your needs are seen to quickly, courteously, and always with a smile! If any of the staff ever had a bad day you would never know it! Other perks are the always clean dining and restroom areas, comfortable lighting and seating, and expanded dining area! I am not local to that area but I love this restaurant so much that I drive out of my way just to eat there! Hope you all enjoy the experience as much as...

Update2: (we only came back because someone visiting requested it) The service is actually getting worse not better. We ordered six rolls, and got a teaspoon of wasabi with them. It took us 10 minutes to get soy sauce after the rolls were brought, and they didn't bring a saucer for the soy sauce. Their eel sauce, was not smooth... It had a coarse grainy texture to it (like old honey) and didn't taste right.

They really need to learn the meaning of a le cart and offer it. This isn't a fine dining experience, but I think the owner thinks it is. It's a mid quality restaurant at best. I basically didn't eat 3\4th of the meal I ordered, because the person I ordered from, didn't understand enough English, for me to order vegetables, without the vegetables I was allergic to (this is the same woman that snapped at me, the last time we came), and the only TWO salad dressings they had, have ingredients I'm allergic to, and I'm also probably allergic to the ingredients in the soups (not that I could verify that).

Update1: I've always given them a low service score, but I didn't let it affect the review because I was accommodating for cultural communication differences. But that can no longer explain the poor service and attitude of the managers and/or owners. I've had the fried cheesecake, brought to me frozen solid (It flew off my plate when I tried to stick it with a fork), and when I sent it back, the owner or manager, came to our table and tried to force me to take it back, and said that was the way the cheesecake has always been.

I wish I had taken pictures of the menu before we left the restaurant today, to help explain how ridiculous they are. They have two lunch specials, both with three identical sides, but one special also had spring rolls. The spring rolls came with the teriyaki only lunch. The other lunch special was hibachi. I asked to have chicken hibachi with spring rolls. I was trying to get it ordered so I got hibachi and spring rolls, and the manager\owner snapped at me and said I couldn't have that. She kept acting like I wanted two sides, but I just wanted the one side. I ignored the fact that she snapped at me, and continued to try to explain what I was trying to order, and she snapped at me again. We left the restaurant, and I won't be going back.

The food is always great! We love the American Dream roll and always get it. The spring rolls and rock shrimp are also both great starters too. They will boil your dumplings if you don't...

My family and I had a terrible experience here. The food isn’t great for starters and neither is service. We found a gnat and what looked like an ant in two different plates of food after eating half of the plates. The ant like bug or gnat was found inside our child’s chicken and the waitress kept rolling it around on the chicken trying to say it was pepper all while it’s legs were very visible. Pepper doesn’t have legs.. We no longer wanted our food after this (who would?) as we were worried about having more in the rest. After bringing the issue to the waitress’s attention, she got mad and argued with us for some time trying to justify that it was ok and normal that we found bugs in our food. She wanted to allow a discount of taking the cheapest meal off which was our child’s chicken plate where we found one of the bugs. She argued that we ate half of our food and said that was why she would only take the one plate off. I asked the lady if she would continue eating food after she found bugs in it and she said no but continued to argue trying to persuade us that it was fine that there were bugs in our food by saying she found a gnat in her salad at a restaurant she went to and still ate the food. She was acting as if we put the bug there. I told her that I wasn’t going to stand there arguing with her while being attacked about something that wasn’t our fault. She kept saying she was trying to help us and that it was all that she could do all while acting as if she were a victim. I asked her to contact her manager who she said wasn’t there, she called him speaking angrily about the situation, not in English. She acted as if we were lying about the multiple bugs because we couldn’t find one of them. We never once were hateful or disrespectful but didn’t receive the same respect in return. The manager allowed us half price for our food that we couldn’t even eat. We will not be returning. You cannot think that it is ok to serve food with BUGS in it and try and convince customers that it’s not a big deal. Very unprofessional and unsanitary. I understand that as a business, they have to make profit but that means health standards should be met along...
